Just finished a ski trip with some buddies. One is a SWA pilot. Showed him various examples of our schedules. He was blown away and said what he saw was worse than SWA.

”is the three back to back ground times under eleven hours?” “Is that a redeye with a min ground time followed by a late night flights?” “Is that a multiple four leg day trip?” “Is that three near max days in a row with minimum ground times?” Etc..etc...

it’s unfortunate that Delta has come to view the FAA mandated minimums and maximums as something to try to push to the limits and get around as opposed to safety limits that shouldn’t be approached.

I think during the next contract negotiation session we should start it at 10 pm, have them meet for 8 hours, then have 10 off to show back up to do it again. Four or five days of that would be good for them. Food? You have one hour to try to find food during the break. Nothing open? Too bad. Otherwise here’s a mini-bottle of water for you and some goldfish to eat. Bathroom breaks? I don’t think so. Gotta wait for the FAs to agree to let you out.

Rant over....
High five brother!!!

Today. Sign in for my trip. No change. Get to gate, get paperwork, download to EFB. No change. Get to jet, build nest. No change. Do walk around. No change. Get in seat do FFoD items and preflight flows. No change. Cappy shows up. We know each other well, we buddy bid this 2 day trip one leg out, one leg back with a 30 hour layover. No change. My leg so getting ready to brief I get notified from ops that I'm to go operate another flight. Thus is 35 min to push. I make some calls told I need to fly it. No rest issues so off I go.

I'm at layover now it's a 3 day trip. We flew 8.2 block today. 11 hour layover to a 3 leg 7.6 block hour tomorrow.

Why do we bid???

Hats off to you HBTH I agree with your statement.

Who told you that you needed to operate it?
PWA 23.L.2-A regular pilot may not be rerouted: prior to the airborne departure of his first flight segment.

Who told you you had to fly it?

At least you’ll get single pay/credit for the original trip plus double pay for the new trip. Make sure ALPA knows so they can also compensate the pilot that should’ve flown the new trip.

Reroute prior to first airborne departure.

You're going to get paid handsomely for that inconvenience. One of the few parts of our PWA where the punishment fits the crime

Crew tracking supervisor. Key word is MAY. It is not an absolute phrasing. Stronger language is WILL, or SHALL. I've been bit##### about this since last summer. Or reroute language is terrible.

Already spoke to ALPA. They've got screen shots, names etc.

This happens all the time.

Yes Trip. I agree.

However our language must be tightened up.

Hope all is well in your world. Fly safe. Don't burn yourself out flying greenies this summer. Take a break sometime during the feeding frenzy!

Now can we put a stake in optimizer 6.9 and be done with it.

Agreed on language being tightened up and not burning out. Gotta work hard but also play hard. Heading to Cabo next week for several days of relaxation and post vaccination celebrations. Hope all is well with you too and Fly Safe as well!
