Default Covid PCR test for Maui (leisure travel)

Any tips on getting the results from a Covid 19 PCR test for leisure travel to Maui? CVS and Walgreens say 2 to 4 day wait for results, and the test needs to be administered within 72 hours of departure to Hawaii. That makes most local PCR tests useless if you cannot get 1-2 day results. Is there a fast PCR testing site in SLC for leisure passengers? Thanks for any replies.

Xpress Check by A-18. Thirty minute results.

Yes. Flew to Maui in January. The rapid test CVS administers for Delta in the FA lounge works

All the Walgreens in SLC I have heard of get you the results within 4 hours. We got our results without 2 hours last month.

It’s not necessarily a PCR test that is required, but rather a NAAT diagnostic test of any variety, so if you’re looking for just PCR you’ll likely see only the 3 day wait varieties. Most Walgreens have HI-state approved tests (look for ID NOW availability) with results that can be obtained within a few hours.

Lots of stuff can go wrong - recommend getting a lab test ahead of time but not too ahead of time in case there’s a delay on flight. I got mine 48hrs prior - promised results in 24hfs. $170 but fully reimbursed by insurance .

+1 for the 24 hour Walgreens test. I usually take it 48 hours prior to departure because it never says on the safe travels site "72 hours from originally scheduled departure" so that allows for missing the flight and all. The tests usually come back in 2-3 hours.
