Delta Vacations Booking
Just booked a trip for a wedding. 6 people are going to be staying with us. Originally it was four people. So I call Delta Vacations to upgrade from a 2BR to 3BR villa in Maui.
Total cost of the trip with the 2BR for the week was $14,000 (including flights). Now.... I am literally trying to hand Delta another $3,700 more to switch the room. So I call Delta Vacations. I have been on hold for just over four hours now (see screen shot).
If this is the experience of our customers (which it is.... my first call last week was 2 hours on hold, then I had something to do. Second call was 1 hour and my kid’s got home from school... today I just have some projects to get done in the garage. So figured it’d be worthwhile to call. At this point it is a game and I’m not quitting.
How is this acceptable? Good God.

Booked a 3 night in Punta Cana last month for one hotel. Got an email the day before I was supposed to leave saying the hotel was still closed. Called delta vacations and was on hold for over 3hrs the day before. Finally hung up and there was another number on my letter. Called it and had things taken care of in under 30 min. If you have a number for when you're on the trip call that. You will get hold of someone a lot faster.

Maybe not all, but most third party travel sites have been a train-wreck since Covid. I will never use a third party again. I would rather pay a few more $$$ and have someone responsible whether it is an airline, hotel, car rental company etc. With a third party any hiccup and you get the runaround. I have gotten some great bundled deals over the years but the BS I had to go through with a planned Oktoberfest trip booked via Expedia that was canceled has convinced me they are not worth it.

Very surprised big D isn’t at least putting on a phone tree with the “We’re experiencing high call volume, if you’d like us to call you back, press “1”. If you’d like to wait, please stay on the line.”
Psychologically much better to go about your day than to stare at your phone in increasing anger/disgust as the hours roll by.
