Default Tesla model Y

Anyone picked up a model Y yet? Did a test drive and really liked it but there are horror stories online about build quality and service after the purchase. Thoughts if you own one?

“hey I’m looking for a 4 seat CUV for $40k”

”how about a 7-seat $80k SUV that’s dramatically larger?”

I have a Model 3. Basically the same vehicle. Best car I’ve ever owned. No major issues with those built in the last couple years. PM me if you have specific questions.

Oops my bad, was thinking of Model X I think whichever one is the larger SUV-esque one.

I have a Model 3, that I bought in 2018. I've had only 1 minor problem, quality otherwise has been great like Wolf said. The only thing I had to get repaired was a window switch, and the mobile service came to my house and fixed it in my garage quickly. I'd buy a Y without a thought.

I read a lot of comments about Tesla stuff - remember those complaining in forums are one who have problems. There are plenty more that just drive the car. A friend of mine down the road (73 CA) has had a Model 3 longer than I have and had not one problem.

Expanding a bit on my post...

Like IA, I’ve also only had 1 minor problem. The rear view mirror wasn’t dimming correctly at night. Made an appointment in the app, and dropped it off for the day. They gave me a Model S to drive around until mine was fixed. Tesla service is great if you need it (which you won’t often because there is practically zero annual MX costs).

I’d also buy a Y without hesitation.

We are waiting to put in the order after the proposed EV tax credit goes into effect which will give Tesla another 400k of production that qualifies. Hopefully should know more about the status of this passing in the next month or two. Cant wait!

I wonder if the loudest TSLA complainers are also shorting the stock.

I have an X. The fit and finish is only average. There are some panel gaps that aren't consistent and moldings that don't quite line up but the materials are quality and the reliability is excellent. You will never get tired of the acceleration but also never get the claimed range.
