AE vacation pay protection

I can’t figure out what the line means that there will be no pay protection if vacation is retained. Does that mean if we are awarded something new and qualification training is affected we have the time off but won’t be paid for said time off? Thanks

Nope. What it means is that if you are awarded an AE and you elect to retain your vacation, if someone junior to you trains and converts before you because of your vacation, you are not pay protected under 22.E.9.

It means if you elect to keep your vacation and someone junior to you gets trained first you aren't pay protected at your new rate.

EDIT: 370 beat me to it
