Kinda reminds me of how the company displaces 20ish pilots unnecessarily so they can run training out to a year for an AE. Don’t hate the player, hate the game.

Those are all valid points. It’s not often a pilot gets to take advantage of a loophole. Management has a very unique way of interpreting our contract for sure. My bad. Carry on with the shenanigans!

March or April 2020 when we let them re-run the bid and saved them a few million. Then they turned around and hosed a bunch of people.

There is no such thing as goodwill in negotiations. WTF?

So true. Both sides play the game with the rules they are given. Everyone just complains about the other team. Both sides have brilliant moves. We just don’t like the moves the other team makes when they’re creative. I know I don’t. But I can’t say they’re not working it, Gumming it, or whatever the phrase du jour is. Thank God we have a contract. Much better than the pirate code (non-contract employees) - as they are just guidelines.

When one side thinks the other is not brilliant but is actually cheating it goes to the refs. Then of course there is jockeying as to who the refs will be. There is also not negotiating in good faith - at least for a little while, asking for a $4B raise, offering $28M, and on and on. It’s a constant battle.

For the company then, "goodwill" seems synonymous with "kick in the junk". Perhaps that should be a primary consideration in negations.

I guess you missed the good things we got from that negotiation.

“In exchange for this relief, the LOA secures protections for pilots who utilize sick leave or are quarantined as a result of the COVID-19, reintroduces an improved LOA #2 - Special Incenve Line, addresses Military Leave of Absence (MLOA) considerations, and finalizes an additional LOA which contains improvements to MOU #16-04 - Fitness Review Board (FRB).”

The sick leave protections were especially valuable to many pilots and led the industry.

Yes, to include traveling to/from a vaccination site. Someone else may jump in with the email reference, but the short version is yes.

We already had sick time available. All this did was partially remove the "abuse" nuisance crap for Covid19, which was probably more relief for the company than the pilots. And SILs were a great bait and switch move. MLOA is governed by USERRA the union and the company have no say. FRB was a joke anyway with 95+% paid fitness issues.

This is YUUUUUGE stretch, even for you.
