I am I able to deviate from say AMS to MSP instead of AMS to DTW and still get a first class seat? If so what the process for doing this?
Once you deviate, you are at the mercy of seats available. (i.e. you lose your D1 guarantee but, if there is still a seat available on D1, you can book D1)

IIRC the last time I deviated DH on an international flight I did so on Icrew but had to call Crew Assist and get them to change my coach seat to a D1 seat. Worked fine for me.
