AE Bid Regret
Soooooo.... the Mrs. is a little miffed at my new-found “juniority” after this bid. I know, I know “bid what you want, want what you bid”. Ugh. So has anyone ever had any luck trying to get out of an award?

I did once. At big D, no less. Also because of a woman...then dating, now my wife.
But it was a much smaller bid. Realized I screwed up with a base/equipment change and sent a note to corporate begging to be let out of it. They let me off the hook and let me stay on my then current equipment.
There’s no contractual relief for this that I’m aware of. But it never hurts to ask. Be honest and see what happens.
It’s also a 365 day conversion window...plenty will change in that time.
Good luck.
(I always, ALWAYS discuss bid plans with the wife now)

Life may not be as bad as you think at your new "juniority" if you moved you from domestic to international. If your new juniority is in a domestic category, I feel your pain. That happened to me once.

I’m just so curious about what you thought was going to happen when you put the bid in

Well... the problem lies not so much in what I thought would happen, but with what Me and the Mrs thought we agreed on. As with most things marital, it comes down to communication/understanding I guess. I don’t know, I wasn’t listening. 🤷🏻♂️

Information doesnt shut them up, it makes them ask more questions. "I'm trying to drop one of these trips/reserve blocks" and if they are the type that wants more stuff, tell them what it costs to drop flying.
Just make more hourly, drop more often. You might get the same pay and be home more if you're lucky.
