I’d definitely prefer more practical stuff and less cheerleading.

No matter how it changes somebody is going to fuss either about getting shorted or being talked down to. It’s the natural state of pilots I suppose. Guilty.

Uhhhhhh……the name of that two weeks is “Indoctrination.” In this instance a synonym for cheerleading.

Prior 121 people would probably do ok with this. Prior military/other, it seems like a mistake. I thought the 2 week indoc was lacking, especially with the lack of any real ground school at IQ.

my regional was 5 days of indoc with a test on day 6. We could definitely get indoc done in under 2 weeks.

If it paid 4+ hours a day at regular pay instead of training pay we would complain that it is too short.

all days should pay 5:15 IMO

They're on training pay anyways

New hire training pay as it is set up now needs to go away. 4 hrs/day with a minimum of reserve guarantee for all pilots including new hires would be a great start.

How does United handle training pay?

if I remember right from skywest any ground time paid 2:1 and any sim time paid 1:1. So it was 4 hrs/day for a 8 hour day in ground school and 5hrs/sim event because it was 2:1 for the brief time and 1:1 for the 4 hrs in the sim. Training guarantee was 70 hours a month but many (including me) broke training guarantee. OO also paid new hires different that line pilots like delta does so this only applied to transition/upgrade training.

United pays 3 hours per day for every day (including days off) during new hire training.

Cool. But I still would want mor substance and less fluff.

Edit - Actually, I don’t care! Not my sandbox. Shorten it, lengthen it, been there, done that, got the wings.
