A220 IQ Training Hotel
Anybody know what fine accommodations might await in initial qual pilot on the 220 come November? Assuming said course is mostly in ATL. Rumor has it Jetblue sims in FLL may come into play (any hotel there will beat the V.A. area obviously). Asking for a friend.

Montréal is locked down tighter than a snare drum right now. That would be an incredibly awful option. UnberEats poutine is not good...just sayin'

I believe most A220 IQ is at the Renaissance at the north end of the airport.
Walking distance to the training center but that’s basically it. |

Walking distance to the training center but that’s basically it. To answer the question about noise; of course you can hear aircraft operations if your room is on the south side. It's pretty much mid-field, but I did notice more reverse thrust noise when on west flow. And the most significant was Mad Dog reversing. It didn't bother me, but I do sleep with earplugs in hotels and my schedule did not require sleep during high traffic periods. That said, I believe the staff try to keep Delta pilots on the North side as much as possible, where you hear the occasional train or first responder siren, but it's pretty quiet overall - thick walls and windows I'd say. I like the hotel: earn Marriott points on purchases, and I have been hit and miss on getting stay credits. Nice rooms with a fridge, microwave down the hall every other floor. The food is okay, but it gets boring swiftly. Walk to and fro the sims if you like. Racetrack is/can be on the way for some snacks, drinks and even meal-worthy food. Spondivits, Malones, Ruby Tuesday and other VA restaurants are walkable (if you dare). Food on campus helps for variety as well. The fitness center is adequate, but I spring the $20 per week or whatever it is for the Delta gym on campus. I switch between both depending on hours and motivation. Bonus: stop into the DAL MEC offices across the street in order to see your dues money at work (as long as it's banker's hours). |

Honest question. If you had a room at this hotel facing the airport, how would you sleep with constant air traffic day and night?

No hot food on campus. Delta gym is closed.
Whenever I checked in they asked which side I wanted. Always picked airport cause, hey, I like airplanes. I never had a problems with the noise, well insulated I guess. Only thing I didn't like is they charge for parking. Like $20 a day. Other than that, nice place |
Free parking now unless I’m due for a surprise on checkout
