I should know the answer to this but is trip assignment done by actual days of availability or days of availability grouping?

There’s two people junior to me in 4 day buckets (NB category) so just wondering if their longer reserve stretch (5 and 6 days respectively) could be the reason.

It's RAW grouping, but if the trip is longer than the group and a pilot doesn't have enough days left, they'll get skipped.

Thanks guys. Looks like the 2 junior guys were both coming off REG to RES and that’s why I got tagged.

It's days of availability first, then RAW buckets.....4 day trip, 2 x pilots in 4 day bucket.....senior pilot in RAW bucket 1 gets the trip instead of junior pilot in RAW bucket 2

Ah, report time was before 1800 on the first day of the month I'm guessing?

Reserve assignments, in my experience, are typically handled correctly in terms of grouping/raw/seniority. When something looks odd, there's usually a reason for it that takes some digging (or a phone call) to get to, but it's more than likely correct.

Also there could be a guy in the same day bucket who has a hidden 168/30 limitation precluding them from getting a trip that goes to someone below them.

Nailed it. Figured I was kinda safe with 2 peeps below me in the same bucket and only one open trip but you’re right there’s usually a reason. Still worth the call to find out though.

Always worth the call for learning (and entertainment) purposes. If they would just put the trip coverage report out to the pilots in an effort of transparency it would educate a lot of people and avoid a lot of extra calls and work. I was on hold for 12 minutes while the scheduler found and dug into a coverage report and realized they skipped me for a GS because a res assignment was on my line two days out while on x days. Still fighting for that one because they refused to put me on the 23M7 because they skipped another person as well and already listed him. AFU and the company now won't admit the mistake the scheduler already did.

Ok, guess I’m an ‘old’ guy as a 2014 hire that doesn’t know squat about the PWA…..

Going to bid reserve in Oct. As a commuter I hate reserve even with the 18 hour LC. So I don’t do it often… but I have 11 days vaca, just awarded 2 days training, and I have another 2 days of Nov vaca on standby for IVD.

My question is the training. It ends at 1730, I’m Atl based. My understanding is I have 9 hours after that no obligation, then back on 18 hr LC assuming a reserve day. So my earliest report would be 2030 the day after training (assuming I’m trying not to work).
