You got a source for that? SRH page 102 states (bold is my emphasis):

"At any point prior to the end of the two-hour period, the pilot may inform Crew Scheduling that they are now available for contact or check their schedule and, if no assignment has been made, will then be required to be “promptly available” as described above."
Not true. You have to check your iCrew schedule within your non-contactable period to become contactable.

I check my schedule all the time before my non-contactable period begins and it's never changed my status.

And where exactly does this change of status show?

Sadly, we can’t see it. But people with admin access can see it (as can schedulers).

Yeah I know....that was kind of my point to gutter....other than calling scheduling and asking if the non contact still shows, there is no way for a lonely line pilot with normal DBMS access to know.

You can't see it, correct. But you can ask. Which is why I know how it works. It's also why I know you can check your schedule as much as you please before your short call period without affecting your non-contactable status.

So you have called in non-contactable, then checked your icrew schedule, then called back into scheduling just to ask if you still showed non-contactable?

I called in to scheduling to become contactable again. I asked if I still showed non-contactable. The answer was "yes, but I'll show you as contactable now."

Checking your iCrew schedule outside of your short call period does not make you contactable again. This topic has been discussed previously on this forum as well. Somewhere deep down.

Good to know, but I'm just going by what the ALPA source document (SRH) says (which I bolded above)....it doesn't specifically say "anytime with the 2 hour period", just says "any time prior" which my reading comprehension takes to mean any time.

It's poorly worded. I would agree with your interpretation without first hand experience.

Ask your rep for clarification if you, understandably, don't want to believe some anonymous rando on the internet
