How did it pay? Certainly both pilots aren’t getting 5:15 ADG for the day, each, right? However, between the two pilots, the total pay must add up to the greater of 5:15 or block flown.

for skywest, no MDG on the day of the split and no trip rig for either pilot for the trip.

Hmmm. Just block flown for each pilot? I guess if the pilots like it the company might get off for less than ADG.

yep. I was not able to ditch much as far as first or last turn, but actually splitting the trip halfway through seemed to work better. We could also split in any base, not just ours. Some people who commuted from one base to another were able to use this for paid commutes/ finishing trips at home

Should I able to drop my NYC trip even thought NYC reserves is low, but other 737 have excess reserves?

if the company wants to let you, sure. Since they would have to deadhead someone in to cover your trip I can see why they would not want to, but I’ve covered trips from other bases on reserve, so I’m not sure your point

I think the idea is more so, why not let me pick up a trip in ATL when I live there but based in DTW. Let’s pay someone single pay who wants to fly it versus GS when the company can’t fill it.

I do see your point on the reserve piece. I think that would be a tough piece to stop too many people of picking up OOWS and the company ending up too low on reserves.

I think being able to pick up Qualified OT OOB solves all of these. Protects reserves, lets the IB pilot get rid of something he doesnt want, gives the OOB pilot something he does want, and seniority is honored. No GSs are “stolen” because the trip wasn’t ever uncovered to begin with (unless one assumes the original pilot was going to sick out of it to begin with, which is invalid because that assumes a lack of integrity).
