Why not have a pilot base there?

We don’t have a base there because the reduction in credit is not worth the tremendous amount of training that would be involved. If the company ever again has a surplus of training capacity the will probably open a MCO base.

I suspect that with the large number of A321 coming, just the training churn will allow for a new base in Boston. Of course, a new base allows everyone to bid it, regardless of seat lock. So there is more training for a new category than for adding the the same number of airplanes to an existing base.

Personally, I think if there is a lot of 321 flying out of Boston to Europe, we'll see a base there - if only for ability to have people on reserve in Boston.

Network also announced many of the BOS transcons going to the 321neo, that are currently on various other fleets. Consolidating Boston flying to 320 family would help with a base there.

I believe what he’s getting at is a lot of those 150 delta departures are on regional partners.

I find that hard to believe, every time I go through BOS, it’s way more mainline jets than RJs.

- there are only 3 DCI carriers
- all CRJ flights flown by Endeavor
- all 175 flights flown by Republic
- BOS is pilot base for RPA

CR can mitigate the "new category" impact by opening with small numbers, then expanding an existing category after 60 days. Freeing pilots from a seat lock is only a minor concern. We've seen bids with 10 MDs so CR can generate a 365 bid. Opening a new category with 10 crews is not a stretch.

22.A.16. "new or reestablished category" CTRL F is your friend.

Happy Easter

That is contrary to everything the company has said, publicly or internally.

Why not have a pilot base there?

Because that flying is still diluted with other NB fleets as well as the same fleets from different bases (of course). All that plus the 2018 "Optimizer" puts enormous pressure on any potential new base or category.
