I guess but a truck would only have to drive 7 miles.

True enough. Diesel is $5/gallon even though they make it right there. Perhaps the refinery should be selling all those other products. I dunno. It seems to me that the refinery should be a cash cow right now.

Yeah I know that. What they used to do was to trade all those other things for JetA. I have no idea whether or not they are still doing that or if they are making more money selling them outright.

Kinda wonder if it’s because the VP of flight ops doesn’t know what a cost index is, or how to change it.

Cost index is a joke, at least domestically. The speeds are ridiculously high and need editing in climb and decent or cruise is to slow for ATC. But yeah for a green airline we sure burn a lot of fuel for no good reason and then don’t burn it for a bad reason. Like saving fuel in ATL when it’s 85 degrees and 95% humidity during the 40 minutes of boarding.

Jet fuel isn't too far behind diesel. This summer is going to be quite interesting.

Brent crude is continuing its march down, almost below $100:

With China and India gobbling up Russian oil at steep discounts, that is restoring inventories elsewhere. The only real shortages are in Europe and a recession had cut back enough demand to thus far keep everything stable. I still see a bear thesis for oil. Oil never seems to get ahead and stay there. Fortunately they didn't go bonkers reacting to Biden and the media with more investments in exploration.
