I don’t have an issue. The structure of the system to my understanding leads to the LEC reps choosing a figurehead that they can rely on to represent them and us. If the majority thought he was the best option, then so be it. No one was voicing any concern when he was the LEC rep who hadn’t touched an airplane for a while. How come it’s suddenly different?

AND, I think it’s one thing to continue to serve out a term when you get sick, it’s another to get a “promotion” while being on disability.
OBTW, LTD are not active pilots. To me, that’s a big difference. Especially as the MEC chair.

Prior to the new C44 reps taking office, two of them offered a resolution to not pay flight pay loss to any rep or volunteer who was not current or qualified unless approved by the majority of the MEC. It was opposed strongly by the same group of people who now are outraged by DH being on disability.

Just following the lead of the National ALPA president...
This! Do line pilots on LTD even get to vote on union stuff? I know I couldn't vote on the last contract because I was deployed. Depending on when the next TA drops, I won't get to vote because I will be deployed again. Never mind the fact that it has a HUGE impact on my life and I'll be back on active status again within a few months. If this guy can serve in a union position AND get a "promotion," then I should be able to vote while out on MLOA.

I agree, but I have to point out that the only part of our contract that is truly industry leading are the LTD benefits. I bet with DH in charge they stay industry leading . Just trying to find a positive in the mess we find ourselves dealing with.

I’m agnostic on DH, honestly. Thus far. But I’m also extremely uncomfortable with an inactive pilot being elected to MEC chair. I didn’t get the other 50% replaced with union dues money after my DPMA ran out when I was on LTD. I was in fact told TBNT when I offered to truly volunteer for the Scheduling committee - as in, work for free. Precisely because I was on LTD and ALPA was uncomfortable with the optics of that. That was in late 2019 or early 2020.
Which begs the question. If DH is getting FPL as a rep or as MEC chair, is he receiving DPMA benefits? Serious question. Because if he is…
