Internal recommendation for a pilot

Hello all,

I appologize if this question has been asked before, but how does the internal recommendation process work at Delta? Is there a specific email or form that needs to be filled?

Thanks much.

The applicant has a place on airline apps to enter people who will recommend them. Those people (whether they work for Delta or not) then get a link sent by airline apps to fill out the recommendation. On that form it asks if the recommender is Delta employee and if they are a pilot. If they are then that will trigger the automatic scoring within 30 days.

What tennis said. The old way of sending an email to pilot hiring are done. It’s all through airline apps now.

Does it matter how many internal recommendations one has or the system adds points for one only? Thanks much. I appreciate the information.

I don't know the answer, and I'd bet that information is a pretty closely guarded secret. They do not release info on how they score apps. In general, you'd think that having more than 1 internal rec would help, but there's probably a limit to how much credit you'll get. Regardless, your app can only be scored once every 12 months, so once the first person puts it in, having more people also do so will not garner additional scorings.

Any recent guidance on if the initial rec should be before publish or right after publish?

Do reccos from retired DAL pilots carry any weight in the hiring process?

Define “before or right after”.

The timing *likely* doesn’t matter, but it is known that the internal rec flags the app for review. (Only 1 required now according to Pilot Selection, not saying more isn’t better).

I think most people wait until the app is published and active so that it flags for review while active.

Appreciate it, this answers my question!

Yes.

Depending on who they are, I suppose. There's a backdoor to everything. You're crazy not to use them if they're up for it. Careers here can be long. Some pilots just fly the line, some do many, many things. The latter traditionally carry more weight. But things are always in motion.

Personally owe a huge debt of gratitude that I can never repay to a couple of them.

(Love the Heinlein reference, btw)
