Flying on X-day/PB Day
I’ve used a couple PDs and therefor I am short some hours for the month. If I YS on an X-day, are those hours added back? Same question for flying on a PB day.
TIA |

Try requesting extra reserve days. It’s a PCS function. I’ve never tried it.

I think in order for that to work the company has to first post that they will be giving out extra days (specific to each category), and they've never done that once to my knowledge.

Thanks fellas. Another question.
I was going to run hard and go beyond the reserve guarantee. Today, on my payback day, a nice trip (less than 12hrs to report) opens up…I submit a YS. I chat crew assist to inform CS I have a YS (as I understand <12hrs is a manual process). The trip goes to a short call pilot. I questioned CS, they said reserve pilots go first. I asked about the <12 hr coverage ladder…was told “no…reserve pilots go first”. I didn’t argue…its made my decision to work less easier. That said, I don’t understand how PWA 12.O.3. vs 12.O.5 isn’t clear in this situation? |
If you go FULL on reserve are those days treated like X days in terms of being able to green slip? Would you get single pay over RES guarantee and pick up PB days? Thanks.
|
You don’t get PB days for picking up a GS over FULL days. You may as well YS.

Having said that, you are correct that you might as well YS on a LC day, as it’s higher on the coverage ladder. |

Meaning you needed 10 hours minimally of notice However, this is a very good question and I’m not saying I have the definitive answer. |

Plug the trip you wanted into the legality calculator. If legal for the trip call crew scheds and get paid for it. If they say no then call the union. Section 12 has nothing to do with trip coverage. Section 23 is what you need. If legal and if you submitted the request before they pulled the coverage you will be paid for it. A coverage pull is valid for 30 minutes. After that they have to pull it again if not covered so if the trip was still in open time 30 minutes after your request you know you are good.

You do get PB days if the underlying day is an X-day. “Full” simply means no further obligation to the company for the bid month, nothing more. (And it is NOT required to be on your schedule to be true).

If picking up a GS when full on X day will the earned PB be applied on the remaining LC (full) days or banked?

Any avoidable gotchas with submitting a YS to fly over a mix of RES and X days that might prevent one from getting a trip? Any differences between for example X-X-LC vs LC-X-X? Attempting to get "full" as quickly as possible. Thanks!

Not that I’m aware of. No extra pay is due, and no PB days earned as I assume you’re aware. Everything you do just goes towards reserve guarantee to help you fill up.

True but I would try to move the X days later in the month on the off chance after you are full you might GS for PBs.
The only "gotcha" I can think of is getting yourself into a 30/168 scenario that makes you wait for the next trip while actively trying to fill up. LC isn't rest, and if you YS into X days followed by another LC block you might have 30/168 issues. |
