My best advice is go to OSH and meet some owner/builders camping there. They are almost always happy to share experiences and they tend to know other models they would “build next time.”

You might also consider the RV15. Kits will probably start rolling out in the fall. It will be more money but the aircraft will be considerably more capable than a KitFox. You will get the extra expense back when you sell it.

Then the game of "what is Dudes username on APC" can begin.
I think it actually helps there, you have to login and post under your real name.

I hear they are nice. I’ve been looking into a JustAircraft Highlander. They are very similar I believe both are based off the Avid Flyer.

If you are interested in any of the RV series, you should join the Van's Air Force forum or the Van's Aircraft Builders group on FB. VAF is the larger of the two groups. The RV-15 looks like it will be pretty capable airplane, as Sailingfun mentions. I've built two different RV's and am seriously considering building the 15.
