Msp-hnd/icn

New guy here, been browsing Travelnet looking for flights a non-rev might have a good chance with these days. I have noticed that the MSP flights to Asia are almost always wide open, by quite an eye-popping margin compared to domestic and a lot of Europe. Just curious if this is normal? I know those flights can get payload optimized, but hard to imagine THAT payload optimized. Should I expect these flights to disappear, or is this one of those things where the company is willing to take a loss on these indefinitely, just to keep the slots? With the hope of Asia demand returning fully one day?

It’s a combination of slots and main revenue being business rather than leisure travel. Was never optimized on the 777, can’t speak to current routings. Pretty safe to non-rev on. No moose in Tokyo though….

Not that I think 777 would have issues with this but the route to Asia is no longer very north with avoiding Russian airspace

Huh, you're right. Who are all these people flying HND-MSP and not returning?! Ha.
