But wait, didn't you vote for the rulers that give out the "free stuff"?? How is that any different? At least these people are paying for something. (sorry its getting boring on here since Flex got his WB B award).

I voted for people knowing full well that I wouldn't be getting any free stuff and that they'd actually want to take more of the money I did make

You don’t want the US government to be profitable, do you?

Care to point to a governing body of a large country who is doing it better?

The US government has a billion warts. I’ll take it, though, over just about every realistic alternative. TARP worked out pretty well - saved jobs while generating $11B for the taxpayers. You win some, you lose some.

I prefer to the .gov to handle my money over a for-profit company.

Look at the wealth of the people who work in government. Same thing as for-profit. That motives are the same.

To make a living and provide for their family? Yeah, I agree. People should get compensated for their work. We need a lot of people to work there to make it all function. The only difference is, a for-profit company is only accountable to their private and, often, anonymous investors. The government is accountable to the people through an election process.
