330 vs 350

I’m currently an NYC330B, but I live in ATL. I’m looking at getting back down to ATL soon. It looks like I would actually have better seniority on the 350 than the 330, so I’m considering that. Looking for any input about making that transition. How was the training? How do you enjoy the 350 flying versus the 330 flying? I’ve never done ultra long haul or flown any Pacific routes. Thanks for any input.

how much different is your seniority? Wouldn’t it be easy to bid Atl 330 only and see how you like 330 and then switch if the grass is greener?

Looks like my seniority would be about 10% better on the 350. And looking at the wide reports that 10% would buy a decent amount of quality of life. Just looking for anyone’s perspective who has made that transition. Training, trips, etc…

Coming from NYC330, you will be disappointed by the flying in both categories. Transition from 330-350 is easy, going back would be easy inside of 3 years. Over 3 years it's IQ vs normal requal. Consider the 350 over the 330 if you have a tolerance for VA Ave, plan on bidding reserve or want to explore ULH. As the categories grow, you will find increased variety in each.

Is it a short course for 330 > 350 or full IQ?

This is exactly what I'd do. No training, if any buyers remorse go back after a couple months without any additional seat lock or training.

It’s a short course. I’m not sure of the exact number of days, but it’s called Related Aircraft Differences.

I’m more interested in the 350. Bidding back to ATL on the 330 doesn’t seem to be worth the hit in seniority.

The 350 is easy and you'll love it. Everybody I fly with seems to really really like the airplane. Lots of opportunity for sleep and the flying seems much easier with four pilots.

Those who have flown3 and 4 pilot long haul: as the junior FO, is it harder to get landings on 4 pilot trips?
