Delta Career Outlook?

I know Delta has done a ton of hiring already. I'm at another Major airline and considering getting my app in at Delta. What's the career outlook like for a 30 year old if you got hired over there today? Stuck at the bottom? Or still a good career outlook?

At one point I kept up on all the hiring for the legacies, but I've been out of the loop for a little while.

Thanks!

Youll be around 10-15% seniority at the end. Thats without any growth or early retirements.

Sure, only takes 70something% to hold WB FO, and that should be enough to hold WB CA without even factoring in our WB growth plans/general growth/early retirements.

From what I understand perusing the site, you should be able to fly WB A for the last 2-4 years of your career at minimum...

IANADP. This doesn't account for growth, shrinkage or fleet changes that are impossible to predict. lol

One thing that isn't captured by that is how much intl flying is on the 767-300. The aircraft isn't considered "WB A" due to pay rates, but covers a significant amount of overseas flying. Replacing those aircraft with A330/A350 as is being done will help to lower the # needed to fly as a "WB A". Not sure what seniority it takes to hold a solid intl schedule in the summer on the ER. Somewhere in the 5000-6000s? Far lower than actual WB A.

Honestly, unless you have a super compelling reason to jump, I’d stay put. Good reasons to leave would be an impending implosion or moving to a specific base so you can drive to work. Outside of that you’d need a darn good reason.

You missed the wave. DAL started hiring in big numbers in 2014, and many of those were 30 or younger. You’d be behind a big, young wave that has decades to go, and that only accelerated in 22 & 23.

It’s still a great gig, and at 30 you have a lot of years to make a lot of money. But you’re going to have a much more traditional career path than those hired just a few years ahead of you. You could conceivably be flying with people who are years younger and way more senior, talking about how they upgraded in six months, while it’s taking you 6, 8, 10 years or more. If that kind of thing doesn’t bother you, good deal, but if it chafes, then it’s going to chafe for decades, especially if your spot at your old place winds up better.

He's got 35 years to go, and still well under the average new hire age (35-38 I think?). Easily will spend time as a widebody Capt before retiring.
