KCM shutting down

KCM to sunset. Replaced with new program that is probably going to just be a crew line of normal security lol. Honestly, I don't even use it in DTW because my random rate was insanely high. But it's beyond ridiculous to dump a program because a few piltos got caught with a gun. Why not just boot them and be down with it? Better yet, let's go back to how it used to be and let us go straight to the crew room with our SIDA badges, it wasn't the wildy west back then, so what's wrong with that?

In a perfect display of great timing, a TSA agent was just caught with a gun in ATL.

"The reason for this transition is the huge increase in the number of airline employees who are smuggling things through security. We’re not just talking weapons, but also drugs and large amounts of cash."

Right, "huge" increase; man, this guy is such a clown.

Also, it's not illegal to carry any amount of money. I can have 1 cent or 10 mil in my roller, not illegal in the slightest. Civil forfeiture is total b u L L shyte.

While details haven’t been officially announced, it’s my understanding that with the new program, flight crews will have to more consistently be screened.
Jokes on them. I’m more consistently screened about 65% of the time anyway.

They want to make it 100%. They've been saying this for years. It'll probably take a legislative fix now that they've cut out ALPA and A4A.

My guess is we get a 'dedicated' biometric crew line that isn't dedicated and is only for in uniformed crew. It'll justify additional staffing and budget for TSA and then be used as another line with no priority similar to CBP lines.

Wonderful.

I don't understand why the TSA hates airline crews so much. It seems to me the TSA was gunning to get rid of KCM basically since it was first introduced.

Power trip. Most are unemployable, so being able to send flight crews to "random" is their little thrill of the day.

KCM suffers from the unholy, unforgivable heresy against the agency that is forced to use it called "not invented here" or "not developed on a contract from us"

Same reason the Marines hate having to use Army stuff, Navy hates using USAF stuff and the Army, well they just hate everything they aren't the lead service on.

You left some points off the board by not citing Delta Air Lines as one the heaviest-afflicted of NIH organizations, rivaling if not surpassing those military branches....
