Yeah, that's a problem. There is only so far we are going to be allowed to be ahead of industry leading pay rates. Profit sharing allows that extra push. It takes us to 11. In profitable times, our compensation outweighs our peers. In tight times, we are still industry leading. And while your PS is withheld at a higher rate, your final tax bill will be at your income rate including the rest of your taxable income. Perhaps that doesn't change your mind, but you are in the very small minority.

oh god not this again. You will enjoy ONE contract cycle with higher wages. All subsequent contracts will then match united and american and that ps check in febuary that could give you 30 years of extra money will have been invested for just a boost in one 3 year cycle. Auto no vote if they touch my ps

I don’t think he’s talking about trading PS for rates. Rather he’s talking about how pilots are earning all this extra pay due to 23m7 and other scheduling inefficiencies. And while that gives a hit to PS I think we’re all mostly happy with pilots on average earning a lot more in their monthly checks but a little less in the PS check compared to earning less monthly but with a fraction larger PS check.

Who talks like this? What does he want pay cuts?

I’m obviously not going to dox them, but when I asked the person said “I just want what we all want, the success of Delta.”

That was pretty much the end of the convo….for most of the trip. It was actually sad to hear someone talk like that—they don’t understand how this works.

That is not even what he’s saying. He’s making a comment based off of the post that I made regarding what someone I flew with said about our contract costing the company too much money, and its effect on profit sharing.

wages > bonuses.

We are all in agreement there. Nobody’s talking about trading PS for an hourly bump.

Ha…. Yeah. Investing in technology. A trip shouldn’t take 20 mins for a scheduler to cover on the back end. It also shouldn’t take a pilot waiting on hold for 30 to be assigned an IA.

We also have tools in our PWA that they can use, but don’t. VAS for example….

Ok. So what? Is the company still making money? “But our profit sharing will be down?”

Ok. So what? Our wages are up. This company is still making BILLIONS of dollars.

Profit sharing is profit sharing. A contract is a contract. ALPA and the company agreed to the contract. Our wages as a group aren’t that big of a deal. Saying we (or our contract) are too expensive is disingenuous at best.

A lot of the inefficiencies at this company can be traced back to technology, or lack thereof.

Sounds like he’s practicing for a CPO job interview. You can’t fix stupid.

we’d have to have a huge beat to get an extra 80-90m in ps in q4 vs last year’s q4
