golf clubs on trips?

Is it an accepted practice on any fleets to bring your golf clubs on trips? Like, maybe on the ER or WB fleets which tend to have longer layovers? I’ve only been on the LAX73N and that was before a long term MLOA, so I don’t have any frame of reference. Don’t want to be a dork about it or anything but I wonder if other people with my disease ever bring their clubs along. Just curious.

I don’t have a problem.

I could stop anytime, I just don’t want to.

I’m still functioning.

It’s not as bad a heroin.

I deserve it.

This is temporary.

It’s not really affecting my health.

LOL! I hate golf, but if it was my thing I’d be all
over brining clubs! As soon as I stop bidding around kid schedules, I think I can bid good fishing layo’s…. There will
be a third bag with appropriate gear.

I’m a fellow addict and I’ve never brought my clubs or seen anyone who has. They have to be checked so that limits the trips that would even be feasible. I did hear of a guy who would send his clubs Delta Cargo to the layover. Not sure what happens when you get rerouted.

I just carried a small go bag with accessories (glove, balls, tees etc) and got pretty good at playing with rental clubs.

I've dragged an entire OGIO motocross gear bag with MX hemet, boots, pants, jersey, gloves, goggles, chest protector to multiple places in the US, Brussels (rode at Lommel on a 48h layover) and Dakar.

this. Way more fun to hack around with rentals than to stress over the logistics of shipping your clubs.

Can confirm.

I've rented clubs at PUJ and FAR, ironically not on the same trip. I'll do it again before humping then all over.

I ran into some AA pilots down in PUJ and they mentioned the resort let him keep a set down in the basement so when he got an overnight his stuff would be there already. If you're able to bid the same trips maybe you could pull something like that off?

Not particularly helpful to the OP, but this reminds me of when we used to do JFK to Moscow and we had a number of pilots who lived in the northeast and kept their hockey equipment at the hotel and would play pickup games with the Russians

That's a cool thing to do! I know we have a pretty active hockey group between the pilots and MX. I played goalie for many years but then in my post military career decided smoked meat and malted barley were more important. I coach my kids U6 team but that's hardly coaching.

Maybe I'll get to bring my gear somewhere like that again, that would be a cool experience.
