Yep it's against company policy to have your ID displayed in the terminal or while non revving out of uniform unless you're jumpseating. Idk why so many guys do it.

I rock my hot pink/purple airbus lanyard from toulouse, unless there is an alpa contract lanyard. But I do have my alpa pin on my tie. Gotta keep sticking it to company with my hot pink/purple manufacturer lanyard unless the union one is more obnoxious... lol

That said, it only says the fabric has to be that color. The box with lettering can be bold typeface and Yellow if they want. Make it like the LCA/SLI lanyard, big yellow box with APLA and rhe phrase of choice. Perfectly legal! The more obnoxious the better! |

They changed the FOM to require basic colors (Blue, Black, Red, White) after the Lime Green lanyard campaign of C19. Surprised they didn’t do it after the Orange of C15 TA2…

We should be giving as much regard to uniform policy as management gives to our contract, especially during protracted negotiations. |

I managed to find an old FOM pdf from early 2019, long before the lime green lanyard came out. The color restrictions you quoted were already in there. The restrictions were added during the orange C15 campaign. The lime green lanyard was never compliant.

Every time I see someone else with the yellow bag tag I make it a point to let them know how good it looks. (Then I talk to the tag and tell it “thanks for showing up today!”)
I put the ALPA pin on my lanyard. That way blazer season or not, the ALPA pin isn’t forgotten. |

I used to wear a pin in my tie but it would always get caught on shoulder harnesses, etc. so I got out of the habit. Is everyone putting the ALPA pin over that red design thing they put on the tie or somewhere else? |

I've been wearing my ALPA lanyard since the day ALPA handed them out. As a very young and clueless pilot at my regional I went to an ALPA council meeting with my sim partner (upgrading CA) and learned a lot about ALPA and the importance of unity.

Lanyard, right above the "V". FOM compliant, too.

Also 6.9 seconds to pull out an ID from a pocket / bag / behind a zip-up jacket. Or, you just ask for the discount.. airport employees can tell who "incognito pilots" are just about as easy as we all can.

If you're out of uniform, why the F are you outwardly wearing your name tag+lanyard? Your incognito cover is blown!
I know company actually states not to display it out of uniform.. but I say don't do it for the same reason you wouldn't wear your hat while seated on your DH. |

I only wear a lanyard out of uniform when on the jumpseat. Otherwise I don't wear it in the back obviously. That way I maintain my incognito cover which certainly isn't blown by my crew bags, my polo and black pants, or my mustache.
I could care less if other crew see me in incognito mode. They and some airport staff are the only ones coherent enough to see or care. The family of 5 going to MCO chasing 3 ADHD kiddos ain't gonna care that I have black pants and some cool guy luggage. |

Mine is right above the quick disconnect clip for the ID card and below the stitching for the V.

I always wear ALPA lanyard, bag tags, and lapel pins. But I confess Im not planning on taking my Yeti mug with the "don't drink the coolaide" sticker to captain leadership course for my first Delta upgrade.
My mere existence sometimes draws the ire of the old guard types (esp. the ones with whom "DEI" and "inclusion" are trigger words), so I don't wanna pile it on in DCLC of all places. Wise move or missed opportunity? Idk but I'm inclined to play it safe till I'm done with training. Then "don't drink the coolaide" sticker goes with me everywhere. |
They just sent ALPA pins in the swag envelope. There is no excuse for not wearing it.

Anxiously awaiting my 30 year pin so I can raise an eyebrow and congratulate the pilots I fly with for getting their 1-5-10-20 year pins.
(The ornery side of me wants to buy a 1 year pin off Ebay and wear it for yucks) |

Congrats on your jackpot win being hired under 35 years old and then adding an additional 5 years of top earner status. I'll never see a 30 year pin. And yes, for the record this is sarcasm, and I AM jealous.
ALPA membership supersedes Delta hiring. ALPA actually tracks this. ALPA membership at previous carriers is a thing and pins are distributed on that basis. I believe ALPA generally does well by it's pilots. I didn't understand this in the early years. I'm jealous of the pilots who'll see the 40 year pin, although I'll be long retired and riding on an S3B in the back before I see it. With years of GS/SS/IA pay to boost their retirement earnings. On compound interest. (If my spectacles even work.) |

I'm very glad ALPA does this. It makes the point that despite the best efforts of the RLA, union membership goes beyond just whichever company you work for. You just made me realize I will get a 40 year pin, should my health hold up, so that's cool. I may be newish to this company but I'm not new to this industry.
