Quick question; As a military(heavy) guy does anybody know what kind of hours TT/PIC somebody needs to make them competitive for getting the call from Delta? Most guys and gals coming off their active duty commitment are going to have plenty but being a guardsman with only a few years in I'm not sure where I stand.

If you meet the min requirements posted by Delta, then you are competitive coming from the military. Delta goes above and beyond when it comes to our servicemen. Apply give it a shot and have your guard buds put in a word for you. I am sure that if one of them walks your stuff in, you should get a call. That is unless you have had some issues in the past.

G.Hound,
I was a Guard Bum. Drove forklifts for Aerial Port for 3.5 years before I got hired for UPT. Just stick with it. Network with everyone in your Guard unit. Keep flying, updating your app, and stay positive. A 1000 ME PIC is what you need but networking can push you to an interview. I know it can be frustrating. I remember just getting an interview could not happen fast enough. Stay focused and keep movin' forward!

Good luck to you and everyone else!!!!

G.Dude

Does anyone know how long it takes for your health insurance to start once you start ground school?

Day 1 for health insurance. It may take a few days to process your paperwork to get the family on it. Check these posts. There is a lot of good info on what you need to bring to make sure you can get it done quickly.

There are exceptions to everything but the fact remains NYC and LAX are junior bases and it will be very difficult to hold a line in a reasonable length of time elsewhere. If a 2007 is holding a line in SLC he is one of the first groups of rehires after the furloughted recalls from the 2001 furloughs. It's is also not common because I don't care what he says SLC is not a junior base. Some catagories will open for a short time but then when senior guys see the oppertunity they will be filled.

In NYC on the 88 you will hold a line after about one month on reserve, maybe two. The turnover here is just real high and new hires will hold a line quickly. ER NYC will probably hold a line next. ATL 88 looks like 6 months to a year.slinky

Any word on a Job Fair? Been off-line for a while in case I missed it.
