You probably don't even have a college degree and YOU ARE the reason our profession has gone down the ********er. Just joking dude! I have all the respect in the world for our military aviators and know that you guys/gals are the best at what you do. Delta has always preferred military folks and if they could get 100% from the military, I'm sure they would. I think the schoolhouse is happy with the mix they are now getting. I think we also need a bunch of RJ guys at Delta to help pull together on the SCOPE issue. We've seen the darkside and I believe we will be more against relaxing scope than those who have not experienced the RJ dreamworld. Sorry for stirring the pot, I should have resisted but it was just too easy.

I should have resisted in the first place. We are all in "The Big Show" together and let's hope it has a good ending. Looks like another huge bid in the next week. BB told the class that just started that they will have to hire at least 400 in 08 even if we announced a merger and some domestic capacity was cut. The only way Delta could stop hiring would be to not get the 777 LR's which isn't going to happen. The year old MD-90 rumor is also ramping back up which would be great because some of the CRJ-900 routes would be flown by additional 90's.

Default Delta Northwest merger new contract

I have read a few places that if Delta and Northwest merge there may be a new contract. I was wondering among those folks currently there if there have been any desire to make the short call reserve a longer call out time than 2 hours. I know that United, Continental, and American are all at least 3 hours. I live about 2 hours from New York no traffic, so without the short call being extended I would be stuck with a crash pad.

Any other concessions that you think may get made during a contract renegotiation?

Not sure about United but I think CAL is 2 hour short call too. They just have to give you an hour from show to departure time. So 2 hour till show = 3 hours total. At Delta it's mostly long call and then they can convert that to short call up to 6 or 8 times a month (can't remember). Either way if your in NYC at DAL it's the junior base and you'll hold a line pretty quick. At least on the 88.

Short call is not 2 hours. In NYC if they give you a min call out they ask you how soon you could reasonably expect to get to work. It could take 3+ hours in traffic, etc. They are very accomodating on this.

Guys,

It has been written that some folks start sims litterally right after indoc and others up to a few weeks later. What are the sim wait times by platform right now? Thanks in advance.

The 88 was from 1 to 3 weeks. I think the others were similar.

The wife and I are trying to do some financial planning for when I'm in training and have a few questions. I've done a search but need some clarification on a few things.

1. I've heard of guys being sent home for a few weeks after indoc before coming back for the rest of their training. During this hiatus, are you still being paid? IOW, do you still get the $2700/month even though they send you home for part of it or is it prorated?

2. I understand you don't get line pay until you're done with OE. On the 76ER, does that mean once you finish the domestic OE portion or does it kick in only after TOE?

Thanks.
