Windows 8 is totally different from iOS or Android. There are some very ardent fans (people who own Windows Phones). For the rest of us I've had a very hard time understanding the advantages of colored boxes that update Wx/contacts/etc. I've been an MS user for 30 years now (all the way back to MS-DOS 2). There's going to be a pretty big training curve to get used to this low market percentage tablet. The fact that over 85% of the people using smartphones use iOS or Android means you're going to have to learn a 2nd (or possibly third if you're still using Windows 7) operating system.

I'm wondering if we'll get to pick our own cases/covers.
I'm thinking Hello Kitty, but I could also go with a Star Wars theme.

I think the consensus is that Windows 8 is decent for tablets (swiping and all that) but not so much for desktop/laptop.

That said there is talk of the next version of Win8 (Windows Blue) getting the start menu back. Windows Blue could restore the Start button, boot straight to the desktop | Ars Technica

It does matter. Lets say at a pilot calls in sick for a trip on 21 APR at 6:30 am for a trip that departs at 3PM on 22 Apr. If you have checked yes you will be awarded the trip. If you have checked no you wont get it unless no one WS the trip in the 7am window. It would then go to the manual process for same or next day coverage and you would be awarded the trip a few hours later.
Keep in mind that all known flying for same or next day coverage after the 7am window the day prior must be covered as it shows up. It will not be covered by PCS. Schedulers have however been known to let a trip for the next day season in the pot for a few hours hoping someone WS's the trip if they are out of reserves. This is actually not legal but they will claim they were busy with other trip coverage. Also keep in mind that any WS awarded for same day with less then 12 hours to report is a proffer.

I've got Windows 8 on my new computer... it's not bad and is actually quite simple. I'd much prefer iOS for tablets, but beggars can't be choosers. Windows 8 is a vastly cleaner and smoother running interface than any Windows OS I've used before.

As far as dropping and white slipping, I've officially *****d myself out this month. I had vacation (which gave me the line), nuked all my orginal trips, and have WS'd or swapped for 85 hours of credit on top of the vacation- All day trips and 2 days (except a carryout 4 day), only working one weekend.

Not bad...

For $50 they'll take it from you. Good deal, you're not going to find this elsewhere. I wouldn't walk out of here because you're going to see a lot of money exchanged for this. I'll take it. Nobody else is going to take it without asking you for more money than I am.
