Of course not all, but I have to assume most aspire to some day be a DAL retiree. I do agree that this is another one of the 99% (made up statistic) of online discussions that has zero bearing on any real world outcomes since as you correctly mentioned, this is up to management and not the pilot groups. I have a feeling management probably has PS for life so what do they care about S3A vs S3B, they and their families won't be affected...
Endeavor pilot here. I’ll continue to ride the jumpseat when available to get S3B S4 or whoever on. Important to help everyone get a seat.

If you don't have a DAL seniority number, you don't work for DAL. As you said you are owned by DAL. Now just to stir the pot, I'll add the age old statement....Commuting is a choice!

Commuting is most definitely not a "choice."

Uhh, I disagree. Unfortunately, Delta has control over this and I will likely just buy a ticket when I'm retired. BTW, the old idea of "screw the retirees because they don't matter" eventually catches up with you... If you are lucky. OFG

No one is saying screw the retirees. I'm just saying they don't need to go ahead of people who active employees, to include contractor employees.

My mom is retired management with active S3 1970's for life, still, she buys tickets 90% of the time. I have her benefits as well, but I have never had to call her to list above my own from 9E. It's either every non-rev got on the flight, or I was in the JS.

Every one is saying screw the retirees, get it straight.

Short-sighted? There are two sides to that argument. For example, Endeavor people need to make money NOW. They have families to feed NOW. After they retire from Delta (as you assume they would want to) they won't need to nonrev somewhere in order to make the money needed to put clothes on their kids. They will probably understand the need for active Delta-owned employees to get to work in order to make money, for themselves and for DELTA. Who is going to fly the retirees around when the active pilots can't get to their plane?

Amazing, now, I have no idea how I managed to commute for seven years with no jump seat- up hill both ways.

No one is saying screw the retirees. There is nothing wrong with being happy about an easier commute to work. BTW, you wouldn't have a WO contractor flying your passengers around if there was no scope relief. Who voted in scope relief? I will gladly accept a history lesson if I am going the wrong direction with this, but regional pilots can't be blamed for what mainline guys allowed management to do in the first place.
