Question for you Delta guys...say you really wanted 767 out of ATL but got "stuck with" a Mad Dog out of NYC, when can you bid to the 767 and/or bid to ATL? At my old airline, seniority was everything (at least til bankruptcy) so you could bid to whatever you wanted after IOE was done...not the most cost effecient way of doing business but kept everyone happy, how does Delta do it?
Correct on the seniority.

To answer your other question, you can bid what/where you want as soon as your seniority lets you hold it. With the present growth/hiring, that should get you to ATL in less than 6 months, although not necessarily on the 75/76, but it's quite possible.

The first move is free and incurs a 2-year aircraft lock for that second equipment type. You can always move base-to-base on the same equipment for free. Two special cases are going between the MD-88 and MD-90, or 75/76 to the ER, both of which incur a 9 month lock. (No lock to go from ER to domestic 75/76, however.)

Last 4 reverse order...after retreads (i.e. 0001 'plug'...9999 gets 76 ATL)

Dude...I wouldn't call MD88 NYC "getting stuck". Jumping to JB pre-in the red is "getting stuck." Just be thankful you get anything. If you want to be one of 3000 proud who call ATL home and in the 76, then bid it. Hang around DAL and, at least for the time being, you get a bid every 3 months. It doesn't matter what you do on your first 'new hire' assignment, you can hunt $$$'s, Euro trash or QOL through the bid system. Get on board and you'll see, it's a good place to be...love this place. Remember your bros who were just happy to fly sideways for their first assignment? A class of 16 wide bodies is unreal. And to have the pleasure of flying McD products outta NYC for a couple months is a real treat....beats the rubber dog**** thing...

I was just using an example and I thought the "quotation marks" helped imply the sarcasm on "getting stuck with" (using a phrase I have heard here, that's all). I personally wouldn't mind an MD out of NYC or anywhere else for that matter, I've just read that they tend to go at the bottom of the wish list, hence "getting stuck with". Glad to hear you are proud to be at Delta, that's the kind of employee everyone wishes they had!

Oh BTW...I passed on a golden opportunity to set myself up for a return to SLC (hometown) on the maddog to chase Euro trash skirt in Budapest, Bucharest, 4 Italian stops, 3 Spanish stops and the possibility of a Stockholm stop. QOL can wait 'til later...

Can any of those in class elaborate on the latest staffing projections and the status of the additional MD90's?
