Don't have any good pics but I thought this might put an end to the COMAIR Delta thing and put a smile on your face.

An old southern country preacher from Georgia had a teenage son named David and it was getting time the boy should give some thought to choosing a profession. Like many young men, the boy didn't have a clue what he wanted to do, and didn't seem too concerned about it.

One day, while the boy was away at school, his father decided to try an experiment. He went into the boy's room and placed four objects on his desk: - A Bible - A silver dollar - A bottle of Jack Daniels whiskey - A Playboy magazine.

The old preacher then says to himself "I'll just hide behind the door, and when he comes home from school this afternoon, I'll see which object he picks up. If it's the Bible, he's going to be a preacher like me, and what a blessing that would be! If he picks up the dollar, he's going to be a businessman, and that would be OK; but if picks up the bottle, he's going to be a no-good drunkard, and, Lord, what a shame that would be. And worst of all, if he picks up that horrible magazine he's gonna be a skirt-chasin' bum."

The old man waited anxiously, and soon heard his son's footsteps entering the house and whistling and he headed for his room. The boy tossed his books on the bed, and as he turned to leave spotted the objects on the desk. With curiosity in his eye, he walked over to inspect them. He picked up the Bible and placed it under his arm, dropped the silver dollar into his pocket, uncorked the bottle and chugged a big long drink while he studied the details of this month's centerfold. "Lord have mercy," the old preacher disgustedly whispered, "He's gonna be a pilot!"

no, i bought a Glock 27 through the pilot discount program and I'm having problems with it jamming. I broke it down, cleaned it, inspected it and cant figure out the problem. Its not but a few months old so it shouldnt have any problems anyway. I also have a Glock 23 and I've never had a single problem with it so i dont know whats up with this 27. I called Glock and they said send it in and they'd take care of it.

That just isn't true. Not including oe, I have had two captains do the the walk around. Both times they were headed to cq and wanted to see what the outside of the aircraft actually looked like and the wx was calm winds, good visability, approx 72 degrees F, with zero precipitation.

It doesn't bother me and I kind of enjoy getting outside, however if the capt ever volunteered in MOT or GFK on a cold winter morning at 4:30 am I would refuse the offer.

First off - You say my post is a mixed message - it is not. I am saying that I blame the COMAIR union not individual pilots. Can you completely seperate the two - no. So since you can't completely seperate them, does this mean they get a pass - again no. Just because I am for treating Pilots as individuals does not mean I can't disagree with their union. I think what they did was 100% wrong. Can you blame all COMAIR pilots - no. But that does not mean no COMAIR pilots are to blame either.

I Really like your cut and paste editing job. You make inferences about my post but gloss over the part where I say "...Pilots are individuals and should be treated as such." And when I say "Pilot who were not on property have no culpability whatsoever." You attempt to turn this into "All COMAIR pilots are culpable."

As far as I can tell the only one who says "All COMAIR pilots are culpable." in your cut and paste job is you.

If you thought I was saying DAL Pilots should say water under the bridge move on - you have mistaken my intent. I think its important for the DAL Pilot group to remember how we we treated and try to prevent it from happening again.

I don't agree with the statement that "All COMAIR pilots are culpable." But I also don't agree that there is no culpability whatsoever for any COMAIR Pilots. Which I stated in my post but you tried to twist into something else. JC Lawson and his crowd tried and succeeded in screwing the DAL furloughees.

Do you disagree with this point?

What I'm getting out of your post is that things are changing, and you're changing. Takes time, but things get themselves in order over time. So I agree completely.

Someone else suggested S-guys shouldn't hold our breath, and expect to see N-Captains doing walk-arounds. I bet that turns out to be incorrect. I bet everyone does their best to make things work, on both sides. It's an unfortunate reality that the bulk of the changes affect the smaller group the most. Unfortunate, but logical. So I appreciate everyone that takes said changes in stride, and I'll do my best to do what's written in the book, the way it's written in the book. And if the culture shifts a little as a result, then I hope everyone helps make sure any change is an improvement.

There are of course those in the left seat who cannot fight the urge to be the biggest tool around. Let them be few, let them get a place on the podium, and bask in the recognition they so richly deserve. Let the wonders of PBS help identify them, and let them be asked to retire for lack of willing F/O's.

On the F/O side, we take solace in the fact no captain can input our employee number under "avoid pairings". I know this to be true, because many of my captains have lamented over it... Their only respite is to do long walk-arounds in the rain.

...one more comment on this walk-around stuff: it's going to take care of itself anyway. On FMS aircraft, with the PF now loading the box, it'll only take a few delayed departures, or some sort of gross navigation error before any "inside Captain" gets religion, and re-discovers his/her coat.
