+100 APC Bonus points for anyone who can guess which year.

I have a copy of this and it was circa 1985-1986.

Naw, the widget has a blue field, they went out of style in '72. The key is 4-engine aircraft (no 3 holers), so it's pre '72.

In the pilot pictures, you can see Herman's Jodox pilot shoe that caused all the domestic disturbance with APW.

My uneducated guess is '67. Is that a Convair 880/990?

I was hired in 1985, and I never saw this add, it was WAY before then, I would guess 1970's.

That is a Diesel 8 with the 'old' engines though.

I did get to ride on one a few times, chasing my girlfriend (F/A) to a layover, but with the new fans, that they would put into reverse on descent!

That's right, I said they would put them into reverse in flight!!:eek: The pilots would make a PA to warn the pax that it was going to "get loud" and we were going to come down quickly, but not to worry...all part of the show, no extra charge.

(the inboards only, I was told by a class mate on the DC8. These were later sold to UPS)

If you were sitting all the way in the back, you could watch the aisle flexing back and forth, you would lose sight of the front, it would wiggle back and forth so much!

DC-8-51, the always thrifty 4th floor never threw the widget on the 880. except maybe at the very end.

You could do the reverse thingy and all kinds of spare change, screwdrivers, small animals would magically appear on the cockpit floor. If you were really sneaky you'd make a gradual taxi turn and then a quick one in the other direction, nailed the tail gunners every time.

I'd guess '65-'66 timeframe when all the majors had ads in popular magazines and Flying. I might have a few old copies buried in closet.
