Default The points guy about Delta reservations

Just out of boredom, I've actually watched all the town hall videos. Just within the last couple of weeks Ed actually talked about what a great job reservations is doing despite their staffing (paraphrasing). The numerous posts on skynet about not being able to get through to reservations to buy a ticket get pretty much dismissed as not the norm. This article from the points guy paints us as the only legacy running into this problem. I will have a real problem if we furlough pilots later in the year due to a very poor management decision.

Pretty frustrating to read this stuff. We're leaving a lot of money on the table for want of a few low paid part time workers who largely (exclusively now?) can work from home.

He is gaslighting. It is the norm. We are bleeding customers - including million milers. I know of a few that have tried to email EB directly about the fact they can't book a flight.

Why even say the long wait is due to "high call volume"? As far as I can tell, that's a flat-out lie. Extended waits and poor customer service are due to our leaders' mismanagement of staffing.

No one likes being lied to, particularly while waiting on hold.

American Airlines is flying an average of 110,000/pax per day. 55% load factor.

Delta Air Lines is flying an average of 65,000/pax per day. 45% load factor.

Delta will lose the least amount of money this year. American will lose more money, but will emerge the stronger airline.

American will need more employees to run its operation. Delta will need fewer employees to run its operation.

My father is a million miler, and has had the same results. This apparently has shown the lack of foresight our management team has. What good are we if we're not flexible. This makes me concerned about being stuck next year calling furloughs back well behind the curve, because they were too obtuse to think, travel demand could actually rebound quicker than they thought.

Very true. I posted this earlier in another thread.
My wife is a DM. Her job has her traveling. She prefers Delta. She has a meeting to attend in PHX later this month. Tried to book her flights on us last month. They had cut back. She either couldn't get there on the day she wanted or couldn't get back from PHX. Any flight she would take to get there and back required her to go thru as a min ATL. She didn't want to make it a 18 hour 3 leg spend the night in ATL trip. So she booked a direct flight on SWA. Easy peesy.

Some user named Aup09 was giving me grief about it. Kept telling me there were flights, not sure what delta app he was using but the the only flights available either 1)were three legs with an overnight in ATL 2)same as 1 but not on her get there or go home days. She also had a problem in May where they cancelled one of her flights, she spent almost 4 hours trying to unscrew that. She did write an email as a DM. Got a form letter in return. She's not happy.

Their hubris will destroy us.

"we will emerge as a smaller airline" - delta management 2020
DOW is up to 26900+, we've added back 2.5 million jobs in May. I think our vaunted management team - the best ever seen in the airline industry - has miscalculated this terribly.

A friend's wife got a call at 8pm last night that she would be called back "within the next nine hours".

At 9:15am this morning, 13+ hours after "within the next nine hours", Delta called her. She missed the call. Delta left her a voicemail stating she would be removed from their callback list.
