How about your wife is having a miscarriage. Trip in the morning. What is that? I know it's a PD, but why can't that be sick? I mean if the wife was a Delta pilot it'd be a sick call. It's my kid too that I was looking forward to spending the rest of my life with.
I believe in California it is. Why can't the PWA apply evenly above state requirements?
Personal experience. Just saying.

So sick leave went up because of ABUSE? Or because there is an appropriate amount of sick time finally.
Instead of flying sick because pilots are worried about their sick bank levels, they actually don't fly sick anymore and the company wants to take that away?

It's not about sick leave, it's about behavior control.

If you decipher the language...the abuse claim is flavored with sick leave being used to manipulate schedules to economic advangtage.
First....I would say over the last decade or more of watching management and the officers of national alpa....it is clear some in this pilot group have apparently learned well...and are acting on the lessons of self interest as a first interest.
Second...the company already has the solution to this issue. Staff the freaking airline adequately.

Talk about a BUNCH of legalize....
Can anyone find and post the SWA sick leave section for comparison?
I know theirs is pretty much no questions asked including calling in fatigued with pay.
And if SWA's sick leave usage is lower than ours, why not just implement their system?

Not sure where you are going with that....
Sick leave is a separate section of our contract. If the company is concerned about sick leave abuse and increasing productivity, it seems that a proven system like SWA's would be a reasonable compromise.
Again, does anyone have their sick leave contract language available for posting?
