It's Decisive, Thankfully
65% isn't an accident, and it can't be explained away as manipulation. I feared an indecisive vote, and I feared this thing would turn on social media shenanigans, and I feared it would leave us crippled and rudderless.
Luckily the pilots have spoken, and they've spoken clearly. My compliments to the pilots who took an informed and considered vote, in either direction. Now that it's over, I wish I could say I voted against it, and celebrate with my street creds intact, but no, I finally voted for it two days ago, ugliness and all, based on my expectation of no plan on the No side, and my expectation of a weak, inconclusive outcome that would set us back years. 65% proves me wrong once on the inconclusive part, and I sincerely hope that I get proven wrong again on no plan. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that we have a bright future, and that we never regret not taking this deal. So I'm not going to celebrate with you guys, since in the end I voted for it, but I will have a bit of a grin thinking about 65% of Delta pilots acting in concert to reject something marginal. The process actually does work. Let me also compliment the No guys who were able to discuss this with both passion and civility. The day truly belongs to you. |
Classy touch, sink.
We're all in uncharted waters together. |

Since they had no plan, they've proven themselves incapable to continue. What kind of pilot would takeoff without any alternate plans? They absolutely must resign. Carl |

I don't know that any celebration is in order except maybe the kind of celebration you have if you find a bullet lodged in the bible in your shirt pocket. I'm honestly sad to hear that you did vote for it, but appreciate the classy conciliatory tone of your post. Olive branch accepted and extended back your way. We are all in this together. |

I forgot who said it, but we're one group now pressing forward. I guess we'll see who we're really up against. Start putting $$$ in your mattress boyz.......it may be awhile. |

It wasn't clear-cut, and it wasn't easy, Scambo, but yes I did, and I'm OK owning up to it. I'm also comfortable with the fact that I disclosed volunteering. It was an interesting experience.
Take care. |

The fact there was no plan for a NO vote lies squarely at the feet of this MEC administration. How could they NOT have had a plan for it? It showed they considered MEMRAT an inconvenient and time wasting rubber stamp. They got it wrong.

Catch you later, Scambo. I'm done for a while. |
Very classy move and well put, Sink.
I'm not celebrating anything other than finally taking down the sales machine. Now the hard work of cleaning up this mess begins, though. And you know the unionoids are going to fight to hang on to their unelected positions... |

It's funny, there was a time, maybe a couple years ago that I thought you and scoop were the same guy. It was funny watching you two argue the TA through that prism. It was like being inside the head of a schizophrenic.

Classy Sink, classy!
The NO camp didn't have a plan because we aren't in charge directly, we rely on our elected representatives. My personal plan involves waiting for the company to approach us, with an open checkbook since they need the profit sharing give as well as help solving their self-inflicted staffing problem. The NC should have walked away a couple of times, but they were blinded by the "speed" of the negotiations; too close to the problem to recognize they were getting steam rolled. I was convinced that this would pass because of the sales machine that DALPA runs. There was a plethora of yes slanted information mail bombed into our boxes and any attempt at scrappy grass roots opposition was met with stiff resistance by the MEC admin types. I am so glad I was wrong. The FB censorship during the open MEC meeting sure backfired on them and let's face it, the PEB screaming spelled the beginning of the end. Well done everyone, but now it's time to get to work! |

Well done everyone, but now it's time to get to work! One interesting thing to think about, what if the "no" side (or even pro/con side) had spent 1.75 million dollars (with pretty charts!) and controlled the roadshows with full access to everywhere including crew lounges and pilot email list to get their side of the story out. The failure rate would have been much, much higher (methinks 90% to 10%). It's absolutely astounding this failed by as high of a margin as it did given the unlevel playing field and the army of guys paid to sell this. Fortunately the pilot group in the end recognized this 1975 Ford Pinto with a bent cam shaft wasn't the 2015 Corvette it was being sold as. |

Though I dissagree with Sink, I do credit him for his consolatory words.
