I'm scheduled to fly the day of the meeting. Would love to see a sea of orange. Anybody going please bring a phone that records in high def. Also, there needs to be some time for the membership to weigh in. An open mike of sorts.
Ask your base reps if they can help facilitate. At this point after all the closed door shenanigans and Q & A's cut short "due to time" the pilots deserve to ask direct questions and have direct answers.

From Ben Stout on the FB page:
I am going to the meeting next week in Reston. We really need to show up in significant numbers in order to show those in control that despite their obvious ploy to frustrate our participation, that we WILL take this union back.
There a ton of hotels in the 80-90 range around IAD. I will personally rent a 10 pax van and shuttle whoever needs a ride.

Using dues dollars for personal enrichment through meals, activities, or accommodations that aren't directly related to union work qualifies as "profitable".
No, I absolutely don't think volunteers should be compensated for their time - they'd cease to be volunteers if you paid them. I do think reasonable expenses for meals and accommodations are a cost of doing business. As I said above, I don't expect anyone to endure a hardship to represent me, but I also expect union officers to responsible stewards of dues dollars.
Union politics has never been a pleasant pastime, although I'm grateful for all volunteers - even if their efforts don't meet the will of the body. Unless of course it's a pig feeding at the trough and wasting dues dollars.

Intentionally gaming ALPA FPL to improve your W2 and have more days off than your line seniority would otherwise allow qualifies as "profitable".

I'd like to add a note about Flight Pay Loss mentioned earlier in this thread.
NOBODY should get paid to come to these message boards and post EVER. If DALPA want's to set up a help desk or conduct live chat sessions/video conferencing under their real name and title that is fine. Getting paid while pretending to be someone else here while misrepresenting facts is an abuse of membership dues.

Btw, I like how our expenses exceed our revenue by ten million

I recently flew with one of our esteemed entrenched DALPA insiders. Very nice guy and we had great discussions. But boy did he get defensive when I brought up the feed trough and watering hole setup they treat themselves to on our dime. I called it "opulent" which he objected to, because opulent would be "like Jordan Belfort in Wall Street." Okay, so maybe that's not an accurate description. (If they were doing Jello shooters off strippers, that happened in closed session.) We were eventually able to settle on "excessive."
These guys justify it all in their minds saying, "Well we don't get to meet together and conduct union business very often, so it makes us more productive because guys don't have to scatter to get meals." I ceded the point for lunch, but noted that a hot breakfast spread before the meeting starts hardly qualifies. People can get their own on the way. And what I've seen is a long way from bagels and coffee from Dunkin' Donuts.
Cue the FPL apologists in three...two...one...

Umm... That is exactly what they have. Clearly you have never observed DALPA meeting.

Do you enjoy where you are at in life? Your status?
Are you not reaping the benefits of the last contract that your union was able to achieve?
Do you really think they are operating any differently now than they did before?
Do you believe in trying to fix something that ain't broke?
Is this your first airline?
Is this your first contract?
Do you need someone to get you a box of tissues?
Maybe some cheese for that whine?
Tired of you holier than thou types.
