TA 2 DELTA MANAGEMENT AND DELTA PILOTS WINNING TOGETHER

There is only one acceptable message that must come from the upcoming Special MEC meeting.

"100% of your DALPA leaders have set a goal cast in stone for TA 2. We will add an addition $300 million per year to our PWA. This is far less than we deserve given the billions the Delta pilots have taken in life changing concessions, but once again we are willing to invest in our industry leading company. We see our competitors floundering. We see this olive branch to management as the way forward to outpacing our competitors for the next decade and beyond. Together we will share in the success we created in a fair and balanced manner. "

I think if the pilots conceded $300M/year on pay rates, wouldn't the next rejection rate be higher? (TIC)

Seriously, any talk like this would imply they've been talking to management...negotiating...with or without MEC direction? Nothing about canceling the concessions on SL, JV, OE, PS.... I think anything discussing pay rates without addressing the rest is an automatic failure. The MEC might as well say, "We just mailed in our DPA cards, and you should too."

Cancel the concessions.

No more cost neutral deals. None.

We gave at the office.

Winning together, eh? Nice concept. Except for the long, fat turd in that punchbowl...

...which is mgmt persisting/insisting on putting Wall St. and their own compensation ahead of their customer's and employees well-being/benefits....a clear abdication and abandonment of core leadership principals, which is something ALL airline mgmt teams are currently doing. And, as long as they persist in doing it, employees have ZERO obligation to try and help control costs for mgmt.

After all, it is absolutely ludicrous and outrageous for a mgmt team to think about itself first while demanding that others think of the company first.

"Do as I say, not as I do. Me FIRST!" is a recipe for leadership failure and company ruin.

Yet this is DAL mgmt's philosophy. We see it put into action with things like putting record profits into a $6 billion stock buy-back program instead of investing in the pilot group/employees and putting things like add'l legroom/amenities back into airplanes for the customers. READ: mgmt is going to reward itself, as it has been doing all along, not their employees and customers.

Simply put....

As long as mgmt is going to squeeze customers and employees for personal gain.....WHICH IS WHAT THEY HAVE BEEN AND ARE DOING....they deserve nothing less than the exact same and equal treatment in return.

It's time to stop talking about a "win-win" with mgmt, because mgmt doesn't believe in "win-win" and will only use such verbiage to get a better deal than it could otherwise.

Stop playing mgmt's one-sided game.

F you. Pay me. No bucks, no Buck Rogers. And don't come talk to me about concessions OF ANY KIND until you show me where you've made some FIRST, K?

I'm just playing by your mgmt rules of "me first".

And Mr. Richie "Rich" Anderson, at $19M+ per year in annual compensation (up from $8M in 2010), you haven't made ONE DIME OF CONCESSIONS to Delta for the good of the company. Not one. So don't you DARE ask the pilots for ANY concessions, you outrageously hypocritical, stuck-up, entitlement-minded, filthy rich and have-more-money-than-you-will-ever-need SOB!!

Nice middle school rant. Did you copy and paste that from your tweeners Instagram account?

More leg room for pax? What is this, another early 90s failed Bob Crandall experiment? Oh wait, we in fact do have that. It is called Delta Comfort Plus (formerly Economy Comfort) available for those WILLING TO PAY FOR IT. For those who spend 3 hrs on every travel website out there to save $10 on a ticket we have your standard coach seats...as it should be.

Since I am on the 717 I dh all the time, since that seems to be the norm on this fleet. In fact my very last trip I had a dh leg, and in an aisle seat. Over the years I've had every dh "profile" imaginable over the years, from BC international (great!) to sitting in a middle seat on a transcon (sucks!).

But the original post was not about dh issues, it was about how management needs to invest more in our infrastructure and not do
stock buybacks, etc. One of those issues cited was "more legroom" as if it were some altruistic concern for our paying pax.

But since the original post (sorry, I originally stated "you" because I was evidently too lazy to see who wrote the original post!) then dovetailed into dh'ing I am guessing the post was more about the author's own comfort than any concern for the pax.

Second, the "more legroom" experiment has been tried before, by at least AA and TWA way back when (and JetBlue more recently) and it failed EVERY time. In the aggregate most passengers say they want more comfortable seats, but are not willing to pay for it. Some are, however. In fact it is our own stellar management team that finally figured it out. Reconfigure some--not all--of the coach cabin for those willing to pay for it (Comfort Plus/Economoy Comfort). For those who are not, there are the normal coach seats. Guess what? That model works!

While I think the stock buyback was a huge waste of money (and incredibly poorly-timed going into negotiations) it is quite evident that mgmt has indeed poured lots of money into the infrastructure. We could cite a dozen or more items right now, without much thought.

His "rant" doesn't disqualify his concerns, I say rant on.
