So he begins with the admission there were errors and mistakes made by those responsible for the creation and process to ratify the rejected ta.
everything else is he complains about is entirely unimportant....because had he and those in control not made those 'errors and mistakes'.....its likely the ta would have been acceptable to the majority of pilots and have passed. and there would have been no reason for 'comical and erroneous' comments on social media. |
There is only one reason Randy resigned and that is the amount by which the vote to hold a recall election went against him. Hazzard's recall vote was missed by 8 votes, but he would have certainly lost if a full election had been held. When you lose a recall vote as bad as Randy did, he had no chance to win the base-wide election and he knew it. He only resigned to save face. His letter was a disgraceful way for him to end his DALPA career.

Carl If it goes to the full C44 membership they will lose big and they know it. The 4 reps are working hard to get their allies to that meeting carrying proxies. Its all going to depend on how many pro-recall pilots show up. |
Man that was a tough read. So much blame and so little personal accountability. At least he is gone:)

We need leadership like Malone and time to reflect. We need to determine how ALPA got to where it was and how do we prevent it from happening again.

To: Delta MEC From: Captain John Malone Subject: A Path Forward Gentlemen, I’ve spoken to most of you recently and hope to hear from all of you before the election for MEC Chairman. Your candid input is appreciated. As promised, I’d like to offer my vision for a path forward for the MEC to regain the trust of the pilots. The pilots are demanding action and change, and I’m convinced the MEC has the capacity to deliver under strong leadership with an actionable plan. Whether I’m elected as your Chairman or you chose someone else to lead you and the pilot group, I offer the following steps as a path forward: Communications must be completely transparent Allow our MEC budget to be accessible to all members without restrictions All ALPA business must be above reproach Create an Ethics Committee to address any ethics issues that arise for ALPA representatives, committee members or volunteers Ensure no pilot on FPL has any financial advantage over line pilots Disengage from attacking DPA These are our fellow pro-union brothers and sisters Harness their enthusiasm for change to our collective benefit Focus on improving our ALPA business model and we won’t need to fear competition A successful TA with a functioning, responsive MEC will render alternative representation efforts pointless Live stream all MEC Meetings in Open Session Social Media is here to stay Pilots are now live blogging; let’s make this easier for everyone to see the serious business we conduct on their behalf Minimize moving to Closed Session as much a possible Have ALPA E&FA provide a rough costing of the pilot group’s concessions over the last decade for use as the negotiating committee needs Establish a broad ranging PR campaign Educate the pilots, management and the traveling public regarding the huge sacrifices of the pilot group to help position Delta as the leader it is today Highlight our professionalism in day to day operations Augment our Negotiating Committee with outside professionals, just as we did for C2K To the maximum extent possible, MEC and Company table positions should be shared with the pilot group throughout the process Ensures they have ownership of the final product Allows the MEC to use instant line feedback to repel management overreaching Clarify the Policy Manual to ensure the MEC first approves any TA before sending it to the membership. Then avoid high pressure sales- the pilots are adults and can make up their own minds When sections of any new contract are agreed to in principle, first present that language to the MEC, then post on the ALPA web page for all pilots to view Release the TA details to the MEC and the pilot group simultaneously so they may provide input to the reps during their seven day window Reinstitute the Pro/Con paper Reorganize P2P back to a primarily volunteer force (little to no FPL) P2P should be on receive mode, and when in transmit, transmit only facts Post-TA information sharing A good contract will sell itself Elected representatives should be the primary source of contact with the pilots in the crew rooms for questions and answers Use modern day technologies to get accurate information to the pilots at a fraction of the cost In light of our Profit Sharing originating as mitigation for loss of our pensions, take steps to remove dues from Profit Sharing payouts And, while we’re doing all of the above, get the pilots a contract they can all be proud of. No one ever imagined Delta making $4 Billion, $5 Billion or, as some predict, $10 Billion in profits. Despite the chaos created by the rejected TA, you still have the tools to make the Delta pilots the envy of the industry once again and you have the power to make the changes the pilots demand if you exercise the courage to do so. Change isn’t easy, but it’s necessary. The pilots have spoken. If you’re ready to roll up your sleeves and get to work – together – I am ready to serve. In the meantime, I will provide one more letter prior to the election to address specific concerns you’ve raised in my conversations with you. Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions. In the interest of transparency, a copy of this letter will be sent to the pilot group via the ALPA email system. Fraternally, John Malone |

Atlanta will be the same way. The real battle is at the meeting.

Its all going to depend on how many pro-recall pilots show up. If you are ATL C44 and can't make it to the Sept. 4 meeting (a Friday on a holiday weekend, any doubt they picked that for a lower turnout?) be sure you get your proxy printed up an contact ilinipilot here, or on Chit Chat, he will hook you up with someone who can bring it to the meeting. Here's the contact info from Ilinipilot's post : Recall 44 thread above: Hello Fellow members It is time we make a hard decision and recall our leadership. I value their accessibility and dedication to us but I and many others feel it is time for a change nothing personal. If you support recall of our council and would like your vote counted please e-mail [email protected], or check out the FB group RECALL Council 44. If you have any questions you can PM me and I will be happy to answer them. I am compiling a list of pilots who are supportive of recall so when and if a meeting is called we can be ready. My thought is to use the list to match up people who will attend the meeting with proxies. And if you cannot attend and need help finding a proxy we can match you up. Thanks for staying engaged. LET'S DO THIS! ;) |
1912 MOTION #03 (AI 15-15 S A) Maker: Hamilton Second: Hazzard
WHEREAS the Delta MEC Negotiating Committee reached a tentative agreement with the Company for Contract 2015 on June 04, 2015, and WHEREAS the full language of the tentative agreement has been provided to the Delta MEC for a seven day period for review, consideration and discussion, and WHEREAS the Delta MEC has determined that the membership is entitled to vote on ratification of this tentative agreement, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Delta MEC approves submitting this tentative agreement reached with Delta Air Lines for membership ratification. Passed: 11 For/8 Against/0 Abstain This is the only official account we get. There is no discussion details about the resolutions meaning or if a "recommendation for" resolution was discussed and rejected. Closed sessions are a cancer! |

After the month or so that has passed, the only misleading material I have come across, from the start of the TA sales job, originated from our union!
Read Randy's letter, and then please respond to ANY of the allegations he made regarding Council communiques that were grossly inaccurate. I'll be waiting. |
21.5% raises were a huge misrepresentation and the only thing they wanted to talk about. $1.1B over the life of the contract was/is as well.
