Talk amongst yourselves
excerpts from the MEC Regular Meeting Summary November 16-21, 2015:
MEC Chairman contact with senior management: • Captain Malone briefed his two previous meetings with Senior Management. • The first of these meetings was shortly after Captain Malone’s election as MEC Chairman and MEC Vice-Chairman Captain Ed Havrilla accompanied and introduced Captain Malone to Delta’s Senior Management team. • Last week’s meeting, met with Senior Management to discuss subject matter content and theme for Mr. Anderson’s presentation to the MEC. Captain Malone was accompanied by ALPA’s Director of Representation, Betty Ginsburg. • At the second meeting Mr. Anderson and Captain Malone both agreed that there is a solution to the rejected T/A. • Mr. Anderson stated that while Delta is ready to re-engage, he and his team respect our process and are waiting patiently for re-engagement. vs. RA, July 3, 2015: "...Failure to ratify the agreement will lead to a very different and longer path that will not result in a better deal. Uncertainty will prevail, and that will not be good for anybody." |
Bottom line, I really don't trust anything RA says.
|
RA is a CEO. As such, his job is to manipulate every situation to the benefit of the corporation. He is tasked with getting the Maximum for the Minimum. I don't begrudge him that, any more than he would begrudge one of us cancelling a flight for legitimate safety reasons.
That's our job, safely transporting millions of passengers around the world, around the clock, in all types of weather. We do it well. I fully expect him to be a hard nosed negotiator and try to get us to work the maximum, for the minimum pay/benefit package. It is DALPA's job to get us the Maximum pay/benefits for the Minimum Work/Concessions wile protecting the safety of the operation. Without some amount of Pilot Enthusiasm, Delta will have to start cancelling flights for lack of interest by the pilots. If this thing drags out, believe me, there WILL be a lack of interest. Where's my backpack? Oh crap, I think my wife threw it in the garbage, back when she had to take a job, to help replace some of my lost pay and retirement! |
Reading those quotes is enlightening.
Here's the difference: Anderson felt free to threaten us under the Donatelli regime. Putting us on ice. Taking the traditional longer path. Cancelling aircraft orders, etc. etc. Incredibly, the Moakists even endorsed his threats. Reprinted them in our union publications. I don't think that will be happening any more. After 10 long years of bending over, this pilot group has finally stood up. We've got our self respect back. I hope Mr. Anderson will realize that. If he doesn't, he's likely to find a big pile of backpacks laying in the street in front of his office next year. |

If things drag out, instead of the rediculous inflatable rat, we could all buy a backpack and place it either in front of the CPO's office, or if you're in training, place it outside the doors on the 4th floor on Va ave. |
How about Jan 4th?
|
Better yet, we could all donate a backpack for under privileged inner city youth. Give 13,000 of them away either on Virginia Ave, or at the airport. We look like generous benefactors to the wonderful people of Atlanta and RA gets the message.

I like the idea of piling backpacks up in front of the GO. |
