New DeltaNet feature: "Ask Ed Anything"
Hahahaha! Wonder how long this will last?
|
We had a "Ask NAME" thread first. It lasted a long time. Many memorable/quotable posts, too.

"Ed, have you ever been to a Turkish prison?"

Here is an idea FSU had called ask Jamis, very similar to this.

I'm gonna guess his favorite planet is Earth. Is his teacher hot? |

Ah, I do love the classics. |
Ed, do you believe the concessions the Delta pilots took in bankruptcy are still necessary?
Ed, do you believe it is fair and consistent with this history of our company that your compensation is up over 900% since Chapter 11 and the Delta pilots need a 18% hourly increase to hit rates that are 12 years old with no accounting for inflation? Ed, do you think it is fair for Delta pilots to be away from their families on a 30 hour layover and not get paid? United min day 5 hours American 5:10 hours Alaska 5:00 hours Delta 0:00 hours |
Maybe he could do weekly mean tweets readings.
|
American does not have a true min day.... It is an average duty day. At least that's how it was while I was on the US Airways side last year. It's even worse because on a 30hr layover you have no duty so no pay/credit. There were some 11-12hr credit 3-days.
|
I'd like to "Ask Ed" if he's sleeping better now that he's got another condo, and the pilots still don't have a retirement plan.

Pretty sure we are getting 5+15 per day now under our Average Daily Guarantee provision. Haven't seen a less than 15+45 (i.e., Bogota) 3 day in a long while. Ergo, you are getting at least 5+15 for that day in the hotel unlike the past.

I think his point is that we should be getting a 5:15 daily guarantee versus a 5:15 "average" daily guarantee.

"Average" needs to be changed to MINIMUM! ASAP!

5:15 min day seems like it is a no-cost proposition that would help everybody. Instead of a 4 day trip that is 7 hours of block on day 1, 2, and 4 with a 30 hour layover on day 3 paying 21:00 it would pay 26:45. The company would hate that much credit so scheduling would figure out how to make us fly for 5:15 hours on day 3 instead of sitting in LFT. Seems like an even trade to me, company gets more productivity and I have to work fewer days to reach the ALV. I'm all for flying 3 busy trips instead of 4 inefficient ones to fill up each month.

Make it 6:00/day guarantee and I'm bidding captain. I also think that would solve all the unproductive time.

But do you understand why the company schedules 30 hour layovers? |

The ADG was nice progress from the old system that really shafted you for a 30 hour layover. It can always be better but I personally, would rather have the 5+15 ADG raised to 5+30 in TA16 rather than eliminate 30 hour layovers by either losing flying time or going to CDOs. |

Unfortunately, you young grasshopper, chose to work for a company that has more fleet types than the Khardashians have shoes which is the cause of those 30 hr layovers. So be careful what you wish for because one solution the company has previously pushed for is the dreaded CDO where you only have 2 day trips - fly the last flight into LFT and the first one out and then done. The other option is that the company reduces frequency to avoid the late in and early out service which means less flying for us. It is a tightrope/balancing act.

I like the 30 hr layover....gives me enough time to recuperate from all the beer I bought on night one. 😆 |
Can someone post Ed's quote in court regarding losing sleep because he didn't corkscrew us enough in BK. I believe that would be a topic to ask Mr. Ed, Wilbur.
|
Hey Ed, why do you want me to wear my uniform without an orange lanyard because it isn't consistent with the professional Delta brand image, when you promote the Delta pilot with this?
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CdTFbDOWwAAksJQ.jpg Really? That's a good image for pilots but an orange lanyard isn't? GMAB. |
Ed,
How come I lost my pension, but couldn't lose the hat? |

DNH: What keeps you up at night?
Bastian: I sleep really well, I really do. Although I have to say that yesterday I did wake up at 3 o’clock in the morning, already anticipating the announcement and thinking of all the things I have to do. But we’ve got the greatest people, the strongest leadership team, the best people in the operation that take great care of our customers. As long as I make certain that I give them what they need and stay out of their way and have their back, we are going to be a success. Richard and Glen and I and the rest of the executive leadership have gotten way too much credit for the success of the company. The success really does belong to the people of this company. DNH: What do you enjoy doing when you have the opportunity to step away from the job? Bastian: We have a home in West Palm Beach, Fla., and when I can get down there for the weekend it’s a great escape, it puts me in a different environment. It gets my head cleared. Saw this and I have to ask. What's your secret to overcoming sleepless nights? I really am looking for a go solution for a restful night. The FAA no longer allows PM medications on a layover less than 60 hours so could you help a brother out? I have an LHR and an AMS coming up and I really shouldn't call in sick so...? The West Palm Beach house sounds relaxing but not really practical. Any other ideas? |
