What is 49% of $10 Billion?
 
No surprise to anyone that Delta's executive strategy is joint ventures.



Can the Delta pilot's put a stop to that?



No.



What can we do?



2 critical things.



1) Refuse to reduce one penny of profit sharing. How much profit will our JV partners generate in 5 years? IMO BILLIONS. Why would we walk away from our part of these profits?



2) Negotiate iron clad JV SCOPE! We have the leverage right now.



JV scope is the most critical part of this new contract. It must protect the lions share of the flying for the Delta pilots and provide immediate penalties for noncompliance.



What would happen if a Delta pilot refused to follow the contract?



Somehow when management violates the contract it's no big deal. That sh#t has got to stop.

PS is the golden goose. No changes. Pay raises are great, but if the company keeps going the JV route, why shouldn't we get paid for their decisions?
Want sick leave reform? That's the company's problem. They made the rules then changed them. Now that they're changed, it looks like a lot more sick leave is being used. Changing that in any way should be their concession. We should get something in return.

I would be happy to entertain a change to PS. AFTER the new contract is signed sealed and delivered. For exactly the reason you mention.

Great points!

And if the company can't shed some PS obligations because we hold the line, JVs are less profitable for the shareholders than they otherwise might be or would have been. So Delta looks differently at internal WB growth...and we buy more...and we fly more...and we make more with more time at home...and THEN we revisit the PS plan.

I'll give the company back 100% of my profit sharing, just as soon as they give me back 100% of my DB plan and my 2004 pay rate adjusted for inflation and my 2 lost weeks of vacation.

Where do they think a lot of that 'Profit' came from in the first place?

A huge amount of it came right out of The Pilot's Contact!

They want our profit sharing and somehow we are supposed to turn it over.
