Lookie Here....
So Delta wants to start flying direct flights between PDX and London....and Delta also just announced that Virgin Atlantic will start flying the route, instead of Delta metal, between SEA and London
Delta Airlines To Offer Direct Flight From Portland To England In 2017 . News | OPB I could see Delta making PDX a virtual base....have that business pick up...and end up giving that flying to Virgin. I could be wrong, but this looks like more ways we are are losing widebody flying. While United and AA fly 777-300s, and 787s....we'll still be flying 767-300ers....which ultimately the company doesn't want to replace, except maybe via Jkint Venture. |

At this point, if Delta pilots fly it, that'd be the shocker.

There is a very good explanation of the current JV language along with Q&As in the latest C44 Roar. May help alleviate some of the heartburn felt from press releases like this.
|
It's also nice that the picture is of a CRJ700 taking off.

And if DAL did fly it, they'd DH the crews in from anywhere except SEA!

There was actually quite a bit more news with Virgin that was released at the same time as this change but omitted in the first post. Virgin will take over JFK-MAN and Delta will replace Virgin on one flight each out of DTW and ATL to LHR. We lose two flights and gain 3.
Reminds me of when sailingfun used to only talk about the AE positions and never the churn. |

Whip, meet saw. Could we do this with 3 or 4 more airlines so we can make more profit(sharing). Delta, Virgin Atlantic strengthen network between U.S.-U.K. | Delta News Hub Delta runs it all really. SCOPE PRODUCTION BALANCE |

So what you're saying is that Delta is making decisions for 2 airlines and operating 1.5 airlines. Or is it operating 2 airlines and profiting from 1.5, or is it revenue sharing for 2 airlines and owning 1.5 or is it... AHHHH! I'm so confused.

In writing they agreed to perform X amount of flying and then later claim a JV partner will not pull down flying. If that's the case then we need a contract with Air France instead of Delta since they can't comply. |

I was starting to miss that guy. Then James came. And I thought Sailing was back. But he answered to people who called him T Square. So I guess I still miss Sailingfun.

I guess they build credibility, NOT, by changing their stage name on a semi-anonomous board. So clever and sly!:D

In other words, we the Delta pilots, entered into a legally binding agreement with Delta. And Delta says that they don't have the ability to comply with that agreement.

That's the funny thing, they also got into a legally binding agreement with Air France, but apparently it's ok for them to ignore the agreement. I guess Delta is just passing it along.

But we are losing! Daily service vs 4 times a week. Losing daily out of a "hub"! DHing crews to PDX vs flying out of SEA base. Both legs should be Delta but if they had to give VA something, it should have been VA out of PDX, not the other way around.
