DALPA Vacation Bank?
Is there a vacation bank for DALPA reps/officers or are they required to bid on vacation through icrew like the rest of us in seniority order? Heard grumblings about a former MEC erson who hasn't worked in over 6 months cashing in built up DALPA leave bank and sick time? Seems that the very people (at least one) who brought about failed TA15 are appearing to be abusing the system the most. Curious minds are scratching their heads...

The vacation and when its taken is assigned like every other pilot, but there are instances where a meeting or an event is taking place over that assigned vacation.

I have heard the same. A former executive assistant (initials JV) checked out on the 744 in January, and with the help of his ALPA vacation bank has not flown a single trip since then.
It's unconscionable that ALPA work comes with fringe benefits like this that no line pilot would ever get. And it's disgusting that a guy who was supposed to be serving us is just taking care of himself.

Thanks Acl. Questions I have is how much can one person bank? 2 weeks, 4 weeks and what constitutes "required work" that would be eligible for banking vacation time? What is to stop someone from bidding Jan or Feb vaca because that's what their seniority can hold, only to "find" work so that it can be banked for a more desirable period, aka summer? I'm only asking...

No line pilot coupld possibly bank enough vacation. It's my understanding yhe guy hasn't flown since January.
Another ALPA abuser is outed. I wonder how he can enjoy all that time off without feeling guilty.

You don't have to have a understanding. If I were going to make a post like this I would simply pull his schedule and verify what he has worked. Then you could post a fact on here including exactly how many days he has dropped from the vacation bank.

We don't have a vacation bank that rolls to the next vacation year. This happened to me and all I was able to do was be paid the value of the unused vacation in April after the vacation year ended, because it was not scheduled prior to and could not be rescheduled after April 1.
Believe me, I tried to get it put off until some time this summer. Several conversations with various departments and the CPO.
SORRY, THE CONTRACT AND THE COMPANY DOESN'T ALLOW IT was the response I got.

Pull his schedule? I'll do exactly that. Hopefully everyone else does too to educate themselves with the facts. Now if true, do we have a problem?
