LOLWUT?

You can't blame a starry eyed new hire for salivating over the "Paris First Class International" experience. Its always going to draw people to it, even if it means they're buried in seniority for many years, living in the malaria belt, being escorted by security to the hotels, getting up at 2AM to take trains to EWR for a 5AM departure and slathering themselves with DEET trying to avoid Zika etc.

The lure is there, and it will always be there.

Idk, if I had taken the ER in indoc, I would have gotten to my base of choice (not NYC) just as fast as I did on the 73N. I would also be sitting ~60% on the ER as well.

Also, my guess is the no show has more to do with basing options, than it does with our contract situation.

No idea about the no show.

Sometimes when they're putting lots of newbies into the ER there can be nice movement. But when its just onesies/twosies here or there, there is a significant chance that those few will be buried in the plug positions for a long time. The ER is one of the best fleets to be on, if you have some seniority on it. But its one of the worst to be at or near the plug on. In 2007/8 the plugs on the ER had a pretty good deal because the worst thing they'd likely get was DUB/SNN/LHR. Still pretty good trips, just not as awesome as some others. Now the worst they'll get is pretty nasty, and they'll get a lot of nasty. Of course they'll also get the occasional gem for sure.

If half or more of every class was ER, I'd say its a wise move to jump on it. But if classes have 0, 0, 0, 0, 2, 0, 3, 0, etc then I'd avoid it like malaria. That said, if its offered in a new hire class, then by definition someone has to get it. But IMO I'd avoid it until and unless it starts going to a lot more new hires, which it might, but right now its not. You can always bid it anytime when you have better seniority. Which is something the newbies will likely find out as every AE they keep getting pushed down for a while. JMO.

I was #4 in class and I passed ER because I simply feel 73N is all around not bad when it comes trips and movement. I eventually want LAX but no rush so I can enjoy the plane till I move west one day.

The funny thing about the ER issue is they once put 60 into the ER in a short time period. They were displaced shortly after. When offered reinstatement or the ability to bid back a large number did so. Must not have been all bad.
