Not much to speculate. 88 closed and 737 positions were added bringing total to about the same. All A positions filled, not all B positions filled, so about a dozen or so will go to new hires in the coming bids.

Keep in mind that the company will often put out excess openings in categories where they want to retain the option to place new hires. It does not mean every opening shown is a position that needs to be filled. This is because of the contractual requirement to offer any openings to a current line pilot before placing a new hire in the category.

This is all great info except the part bolded by me. You can continue to contribute up to the $18,000 (<50 yrs old) annual limit regardless of when you hit the $270,000 compensation trigger.
