They find two leg options through your "desired" destination which they assume you won't take the second leg. Great if you don't end up needing to check a bag...

That would be a grievance they would lose even if they won.

Didn't see a lot of NYC in the latest reported drop. For someone still hoping for an interview, is it still fairly true that getting the NYC base would not take long?
Thanks, just have an easy drive the work now....

NYC will always be easy to get! You can also pick up NYC trips out of base waiting for a transfer.

Considering the fact that Delta has made it clear to Skymiles members if you do that, you'll risk losing your status, I'd be say that employees doing it would get in hot water. You're keeping Delta from selling a seat on that flight that you don't take. However, I'd say its open season if it's on another airline..

You could also say that you are saving the company from themselves, by having them not oversell quite so badly. And you are also helping the company maintain some legitimacy when they represent non-revenue travel and buddy passes as "perks" despite domestic loads being packed full.

As far as "keeping them from selling it" goes that's ridiculous as well. They already sold it, and that's 100% their fault. Worst case for them is the flight is lighter with one fewer checked bag.
Non issue.

Here's an article on the "hidden city" ticketing controversy, from USA Today, the newspaper that every pilot reads and no pilot buys.
