Loss of seniority as others are bidding off. Crappy schedules due lack of trip mix. Ever mounting MELs as mx decides not to fix certain things since the jet is going away. Mostly the reasons I've heard.

Yet not that many years ago it was considered one of the easier airplanes in the fleet to check out in. Times have changed!

Are you referring to when the DC-7 was in property? I'm sure that was a tough check out

Then there are the wings. At altitude they have been stalled in holding at least twice that I know of. It wasn't pretty from what I heard.

And the fact that full reverse thrust on landing blanks out the rudder causing it to possibly depart the runway in crosswinds or slippery runways.

The jumpseat is cramped.

I could go on . . .

And all these reasons why you should fly it before it goes away (if you're junior to me). No grandkid wants to sit on your lap and listen to stories about that one time you had a windshield heat MEL on fifi.

I'm glad I served my time on the Maddog. 2 months was just about right.
