Sort of same style here at Delta, but as far as I know only for the instructors. The initial cadre group for A350 was trained on type and off they went to their real jobs for a long time while working the project "on the side".
They trained more SLI's and first LCP's in the small group trials 1.5 years after they were trained in TLS while still working their other jobs
I think the line pilots were never back and forth, however.

I'm sure you have heard of all the main companies and I don't really think it matters which you chose. For every person who says company "abc" has a higher failure rate, I'll find an equal amount of people who say "xyz" has a higher failure rate. It is all anecdotal. Just keep prepping and studying and asking questions and you'll be fine. I will say my anecdotal evidence says your fail rate is unquestionably higher if you don't prep

^^^ Solid advice. None of the prep services are a magical fix, but for anyone willing to really commit themselves to study and practice they will dramatically improve your odds. If you think that a once over the material and thinking through the HR and situational scenarios once or twice is adequate, then may the odds ever be in your favor. Luck certainly favors the prepared, and considering the opportunity presented by an interview, it behooves anyone to work hard and stack the deck in their favor as much as possible.

Ditto, I used a service that was geared towards United and asked for more 'what would you do' type questions. It's more about getting reps with a stranger in an uncomfortable setting (phrasing )

Default Degree still a requirement

Does Delta still require a degree as a prerequisite for getting hired? Also, will they hire a pilot over 50 years of age? I am busy completing my degree with Embry-Riddle online but will be 53 or 54 when I complete it.

I have more than enough experience with over 21 years flying for a foreign airline and over 17000 hours. Do I apply now or wait for the degree?

Yes, one of the general requirements is a four year degree.
Yes, will absolutely hire pilots over 50.
With all due respect to your experience I don't think they would invite to interview w/o the degree, but picturing myself in your situation, I would still fill the application out and update every 6 months.
Best of luck!!

That is not entirely true. Only the 330 guys remained in their original category until the first 350 arrived. The rest were NQ on anything for a period of time.
