When I was there, they had just got their 787 sims up and running, but still had no aircraft. They were training up guys on the 787 who would then go back to their previous aircraft and fly until the 787s showed up. Then they just had to accomplish a quick recurrent style training event and they were off to the 787.
They trained more SLI's and first LCP's in the small group trials 1.5 years after they were trained in TLS while still working their other jobs
I think the line pilots were never back and forth, however.

I'm sure you have heard of all the main companies and I don't really think it matters which you chose. For every person who says company "abc" has a higher failure rate, I'll find an equal amount of people who say "xyz" has a higher failure rate. It is all anecdotal. Just keep prepping and studying and asking questions and you'll be fine. I will say my anecdotal evidence says your fail rate is unquestionably higher if you don't prep

Degree still a requirement
Does Delta still require a degree as a prerequisite for getting hired? Also, will they hire a pilot over 50 years of age? I am busy completing my degree with Embry-Riddle online but will be 53 or 54 when I complete it.
I have more than enough experience with over 21 years flying for a foreign airline and over 17000 hours. Do I apply now or wait for the degree?

Yes, will absolutely hire pilots over 50.
With all due respect to your experience I don't think they would invite to interview w/o the degree, but picturing myself in your situation, I would still fill the application out and update every 6 months.
Best of luck!!

That is not entirely true. Only the 330 guys remained in their original category until the first 350 arrived. The rest were NQ on anything for a period of time.
